Ranjan was born to a village that remained untouched in modern times and he is the youngest son of Sanjay and Messua. When Dulia was very young and Ranjan was a toddler, her father and older brother Nathoo had gone out to the jungle, however, Nathoo never returned. Despite the fact that he's presumed dead by her family, he and Dulia still held on to the hope that her brother is alive out there, which triggered and manifested his sister's fire powers that day. One day, when he was exploring the jungle, he noticed an injured Indian lion with vultures flying around it, when they were about to swoop in, Ranjan used the wind current against the vultures sending them to fly out of place and they gave up. Ranjan then took the lion back to the village to get healed by the village veterinarian and sage. When he first met Mowgli, he is happy that he now has a boy buddy to hang out with aside from his tomboyish sister. His life in the village is perfect but it all changed typhoon had hit the village, causing a flash flood, thankfully, the village remained virtually unharmed when Sanjay, with the help of Mowgli, was able to convince the villagers to move to higher grounds while Mowgli, Ranjan, Dulia and Shanti used their powers to stop the flooding from destroying the village. Sadly, due to the weather, Sanjay's best friend caught a serve case of pneumonia, and in his death bed, his dying words to Sanjay, Mowgli, Ranjan and Dulia were to keep each other safe at all times and find Nathoo. Now, Ranjan is the guardian of air and he is the youngest among the the other guardians.
