summary: AU - None believed that the hate-filled words of a little girl could still live on after more then 200 years, but when strange events start occurring in London the city's only hope of survival lies with one mouse ... and a rat?

Do not let the picture fool you! as it seems to be my intention these days XD This chapter has more to it then meets the eye! But yes, Olivia did make it all the more interesting

As for the pic ... ME LIKES BACKGROUNDS! My, I can't believe I forgot how much I loved making them ... And since I know you may plan on saying that "Olivia is smaller then that!" I'll just say "Mrs. Judson did point out that she grew"

Unfortunetely ... we don't have Ratigan up today I know I promised you he'll be here. He actually was present in the chapter now a few days ago, but the thing was getting too long and well ... it simply was too much. But I'll think up a way to make it up for you (*Brinatello might have and idea on what I'm talking about here hint: it has something to do with ... tailors!)

So that's it for another two weeks! Stay in touch for more! while I still can, that is XD

Overall

Vision

Originality

Technique

Impact

Vision: More and more I'm impressed by her strive to create vivid and beautiful backgrounds. The views of mainly indoor occurrences are what she does best and here, it's another addition to a fantastic scene, in this case, Basil's sitting room. 5.0

Originality: It's a first to see a bee sitting in a big red chair and looking stressed out while a child mouse looks heroic at the same time. Again, when it's for a scene in a chapter, you won't find this anywhere else...unless someone duplicates it. So again, she's got a drawing here of something that quite possibly has not been done by another. 5.0

Technique: The same style of softness in colors and sharp lines are done once more along with the dark corners and vivid effects of light, shadows and three-dimensional objects. The technique continues to remain at a professional animated feature level, so to speak. 5.0

Impact: Olivia feels energetic and ready to take on the world while poor Thinker is ready to fall over with exhaustion. I feel happy for Olivia's optimistic attitude towards the rescue attempt as well as sympathetic towards Thinker who looks like she needs a cup of water. 5.0

GLITTER!!! WATCH OUT, THAT'S EDWARD'S MAGNIFYING GLASS! Oh my god, what will come off our little mass of awesomeness when she is exposed to the sparklines of Edward what's-his-name, even if it is indirect?! The effect it has had on several young (mostly female, thank god) minds in the past is just... just terrifying. She might become a screeching fangirl of a sparkly little forest fairy that claims to be a vampire! Really now, Eli could kick all their asses to next tuesday with both her/his arms tied behind her/his back and only using the power of her/his awesomeness!

But still... I think I should trust in the awesomeness that is Olivia a little more. She would probably just shrug it off and bite on Edward's ankles while she's at it. Oh, that would be awesome...

Oh, and why are there papers pinned to the wall next to the fireplace by a knife? Is it just Basil's randomness or a new aspect in awesomeness that is Olivia? Has she come in touch with her inner pirate... Do you know if there's a movie with pirate mouses? I would so watch that!

Oh, and about the rest of the picture... One word: Doorknob.

Bite 'em ... let's hope she'll bite 'em ...
And yes, those papers pinned to the wall are all Basil's doing
As for pirates' movies with mouse pirates ... there is a old animated movie of Treasure Island where Jim has this totally awesome mouse named Hiccup It's worth seeing just for that little guy!

You have a real delicacy in your artwork which makes these pictures a real treat. I'm glad I got onto your little fan-fiction!

Now I can't wait for the next chapter!

Thank you so much
I'm doing my best to make them as "original" as Disney art can get. Much to my surprise, it seems to come out quite nicely
Thanks again!

Just curious, what do you like most about tha' fic? :3 (I is aiming for improvement)

You're very welcome!

Hmmm... I actually like this intriguing possibility that Ratigan might end up being a hero rather than a villain. OK. I'm weird, but if he were to actually be hiding some sort of affection for- ahem, enough said?

Anyway- that's the possibility which intrigues me most. I don't know whether you intended to present that idea or not, but I really really like it. (For some odd reason.)

By the way, how do you make the text small?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

sycamoreleaf In reply to Irregularhonour [2010-05-05 19:46:18 +0000 UTC]

a VERY good thing to know
oh, and to make the text small, all you need to do is use this code:
< sub > YOUR TEXT HEERE
- without the spaces. try gibing it a shot

I didn't get the chance to comment to this when I temporarily became distracted by a large rat-er- mouse, posing as a tailor...

This is so cute! Olivia looks so heroic and determined with that magnifier in the air. Poor Thinker looks exhausted from the little charades game. What will it take for Olivia to know it's a female, and after being told so many times, too!

Thinker is starting to grow on me as a lovable, protective pet to Basil. It's like having Toby around, only it's, well, a bee! Quick question, or I'm not sure if it was mentioned in the story: What type of bee is Thinker? She is a bumble bee, right? Reason I ask is if she's a honey bee, she only gets to sting once and then she'll die. Bumble bees can sting repeatedly and can be quite scary when being close to one... this I know from experience.

sycamoreleaf In reply to Brinatello [2010-05-01 19:10:43 +0000 UTC]

Ratigan really knows how to capture your attention, doesn't he?

What will it take you ask? ... Not sure ... What will it take for Basil to say her name right?

And no - it wasn't mentioned anywhere quite yet, but yes, she is a bumble As for the scary part, well ... Thinker is kind of a coward by nature, but mess with her 'little' master and you'll see a whole new side of her

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Brinatello In reply to sycamoreleaf [2010-05-01 22:12:47 +0000 UTC]

Yes, he does! I always hear a lisp coming from tailors, so I was getting quite a bit of that from Ratigan.

That's right! TouchΓ©! What's funny about that is Basil can say "Flaversham" just fine to her father, but to the child, it's major flubs. To be quite honest, I think it's deliberate.

I'll bet! If provoked, watch out! I was stung twice by a bumble, that's why they're scary to me. I was real little, too, so that ups the scare meter big time.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

sycamoreleaf In reply to Brinatello [2010-05-03 19:44:39 +0000 UTC]

I know it's deliberate! Maybe not quite at the beginning, but then he might have slipped from something like "trying to intimidate her" to "trying to get her to stay away" to something similar to "making fun of her" to - finally - "teasing her". Something like a private joke (I know that making up new names for Olivia is just beyond just "fun" - it's hilarious! )

and that, my friend, is why parents should never try and frighten their children (especially when small) with things like "be nice or the beetle will get you" (or more commonly "the boogie man") - they'll remain scared for life
(but I hope Thinker is not quite that frighting, right?)

Brinatello In reply to sycamoreleaf [2010-05-04 05:09:29 +0000 UTC]

I'm waiting to get an answer on this, but I think the flubbing of Olivia's surname was something Barrie Ingham came up with. He added a lot of little quirks to Basil that the directors really liked and kept. But, I agree, it is hilarious. It made the character more amusing and the film more entertaining with minor side gags such as that.

No, Thinker is adorable, I like her. Real bumble bees I run from. I got stung first on my head in my grandparent's garden (to which my sister promptly dumped water from a watering can to soothe the pain ) and then I got stung again at the San Diego Zoo when a bumble bee flew in the baby chick's petting box and landed on my thumb. Was raced to first aid after that.

Brinatello In reply to Brinatello [2010-05-04 19:13:34 +0000 UTC]

All right, I got a reply. The flubs was the writers doing in the beginning with "Flamhammer" and "Flamchester" but Barrie threw in "Flangerhanger" unexpectedly, making the directors laugh and want to keep it in. So, it sounds to me like he was going to say her name right at the end, but does a big curve ball and flubs it!

aww! poor thinker!!! But, hey! Olivia is a giant compared to him, so...waiiit....why is Thinker here??? isn't she still with Basil????? Then again, I haven't quite gotten to the next chappie yet, so I have an excuse.

(but you were right, poor Thinker indeed )
