Errr I like her because she's an independent woman who gets things done with little to no aid. She does everything for her sister, even if it means having a gun pointed in her face. And I personally enjoyed the story because I like stories about a girl who believes in what she believes even if the government tries to dictate those beliefs.

What about open-ended real time strategy games like SimCity and Roller Coaster Tycoon, or racing simulations like Gran Turismo or Forza Motorsport? Those games don't have stories, and nobody seems to mind.
