Description Shishi (Komainu 「狛犬」) at the Usa ginju. These one’s were huge, and covered in moss and just felt old. If you hadn’t noticed, I absolutely adore taking pictures of them. They each seem to have their own personalities, much like Kitsune statues.

More from this shoot
Mid-December, we checked out a car and decided to go to Usa Jingū . It is one of the largest shrines in the area, and one of the most important Shinto shrines dedicated to kami Hachiman in the country. It is a huge complex of many shrines, which we only got to see about a quarter of in our time there. We will be heading back once it gets warmer out (and the colors aren't so drab), and taking many pictures. For now, however, here are some of the pictures from this midwinter shoot.

I love this one.... the colors.. the depth.... it feels so tranquil looking at it and the trees beyond.
