I love Jean Cocteau's version of the fairytale almost as much as Disney's. It's so beautiful and dream-like.Pencil drawing, shading and textures in photoshop.

It really does. It captures all of the mystery and well, horror of the story. It's one of the only films I feel can appropriately be called "enchanting."
I also appreciate the fact that it was made immediately after the war ended in France, and Cocteau decided that, unlike every other filmmaker, who were making things about the war, he wanted to make a pure, beautiful fantasy because that's what people really needed.
