Once harboring an unfailing cheerfulness and optimism for the future, such naiveties have been dampened by wartime as Juno can now only be said to be a very sweet girl. She tries her best see some good in others- but being disappointed time and time again means that she is somewhat more wary in giving her trust to those she is not well acquainted with. (Particularly the materially well-off.) However, her perceived gentleness makes her rather well liked amongst the poor—with whom she is always willing to share what little she has. On the other hand, she distrusts excessive generosity from others, and will often decline anything that is free, as she is fearful of ploys and tricks which have ensnared many before her. She is a firm believer in the fact that nothing in life, and most of all in Linhythe, does not come with a cost. This, coupled with a pride founded on what was once a relatively respectable lifestyle make her offended and often bitter towards handouts- and despite the fact that it perpetuates her poverty, she stubbornly prefers to earn her living through her own ability. Though her methods may no longer always be entirely legal, she does what is necessary to survive—and out of this necessity, has become an excellent liar.

History:
Though at first sight Juno appears to have lived a life full of misery, in all actuality, that is not the case. Indeed, while she was always poor by any standard, she was always just as happy as anyone else. Her father was deep in debts for failed investments, but he was a jolly and much-loved sailor with many friends. Juno, with her sunny disposition and desire to please and comfort all of those around her was equally celebrated as a child adored by all she met. They were a father-daughter pair with nothing to their names but their mutual and very silly adoration of each other and the close friends they called family. The matron of a dock-side tavern was particularly fond of the girl, who was not only good humored when nobody else was, but she was also very good at making herself useful. In return, she fed and sheltered Juno when her own father could not provide for her- and while it was still table scraps, wooden cots and patched dresses, Juno was never truly left wanting for anything necessary to survival. She got along with almost everyone, and was quite content with her life— even toying with ideas of someday aspiring to something greater than selling flowers on the streets and scrubbing pots and pans behind the tavern.
But the attack on Linhythe changed her fortunes very dramatically, as the tavern and most all of her earthly possessions went down in flames. The matron returned to Bratkowice with her family after losing her home and business, and Juno declined their invitation to go along—knowing that she would be but another mouth to feed on a nonexistent income. Many of the sailors whom she had regarded as her family, who had protected her from gang violence and who she had always eagerly welcomed home from their voyages did not return when their vessels were sunk by Miran magicians. And not but two weeks after the attack, her father disappeared without a trace. With her beloved docks and city in ruins, crime reigned king and she found herself quite vulnerable. Survival in the upcoming winter seemed bleak, and while she has managed to scrape by in such ways as she would never divulge outside of the strictest of confidences, she’s come out the worse for the wear. But she lives on, determined to see each day through in the hopes that tomorrow will bring a better day.

- Her hair is actually a strawberry blonde, but is usually a shade darker from smoke and dirt as she cannot afford regular washings.
- Juno always smells strongly of charcoal and smoke, as she spends most of her time around smoking bonfires built up by the poor to stay warm. She’s also usually covered in soot.
- She alternates her nights sleeping on the streets (in tolerable weather) or in camps/shelters (during inclement weather) set up for those who lost their meager livings in the attack.
- She is actually quite an adept healer for having no formal education, having learned a bit of the art as a child, and sings to soothe the spirits of others who have fallen on hard times like herself.
Relationships:
Albrecht Eisler: “Uncle Albsie” is a Miran healer whom Juno met over ten years ago as a child. She spent a merry few weeks with his encampment, and he and his friends taught her what little they could impart during their short stay of the art of healing. The blue scarf on her neck is a memento from him. He is but a distant memory now that her newest impression of the Miran army has brushed away much of her former fondness for the blue uniform.

Family:
???, Mother: The story Juno is told is that her mother was the love of her father’s life, waiting faithfully for his return from sea and that she died in childbirth before he could see her again. She doesn’t really believe this story, and has since wizened up to the fact that while it is probably true that her mother is dead, she was more likely to have been a random prostitute on the streets of Linhythe.
Jerard Lovelo; Father: Jerard Lovelo is something of a famous local good-for-nothing, but he has the sunniest spirits and the most undefeatable friendliness that puts him on good terms with almost anyone who doesn’t con him out of his own underpants. He is a sailor, but not a very good one as he’s not exactly the hardiest man on this side of the shore. He has been missing for many months now, and while he disappeared without a trace, Juno seems to have an idea of what has happened to him.
