Description
I have always had a soft place in my heart for the younger generation of mutants. They are the ones that made up the New Mutants, X-Force, Generation X, even the Fallen Angels. They are the ones that looked to the X-men, to show them how to be the protectors of Xavier’s dream. And I feel like the X-Men have left them down in every possible way. They really don’t get enough respect as far as I’m concerned. They are usually shifted to limbo, only to appear again briefly before being killed off to give a story some dramatic weight to it.
The younger mutants have some really good well rounded characters. Because they are not as popular as say a Beast or Cyclops, writers could take the characters in much more interesting directions. They actually had a chance to grow, instead of becoming stale and static, *cough*wolverine*cough*.
Of the next generation mutants (that are still alive), I drew my favorites in the current incarnations. From left to right: Monet, Rictor, Siryn is flying above, Jaime Madrox the Multiple Man, Wolfsbane, Cannonball, Warpath, Sunspot, Magma, Moonstar, Karma, and Jubilee at the bottom.
Cannonball and Warpath are the only two that are proper X-men. M, Siryn, Rhane, Jamie and a de-powered Rictor are part of the new X-Factor Investigations. Sunspot is head of the Hellfire Club. A de-powered Moonstar works for the Government training super-powered youngsters, while a de-powered Jubilee fight authority over in the New Warriors. Lastly Magma and Karma are pretty much M.I.A.
