Another picture I didn't really have time for, but just had to do.

This is our Timekin Stallion, Peregrin Took (aka, Tyke). He's one of the breed's Founding studs and as such, carries a silver gene. Being black liver chestnut it doesn't show up, but coinciding with it, are the genes for dual colour markings. I've neglected him something awful and came to the realisation just recently that I think I've found it so difficult to draw him because I just couldn't fathom his build at all. He was a heavy set Andalusian build, and that's just so not my thing that I never got the inspiration to draw him.

I think I've fixed that. Tyke is now more of a Friesian type build (a horse I have a soft spot for) and with any luck, Imagining him more Friesian type will help me with drawing him more often. I'll see how that works, and I just hope that's okay with *MissDudette since they're technically supposed to be based on Iberian conformation :

So this is a fairly quick training image for him, just to get me drawing this guy again. Becca's doing some nice flatwork in the Temple. Even at his most impatient, Tyke's not the type to pitch a fit, so Becca's happy riding without a hat.

Tyke may be one of the larger Lakewood horses, and look imposing, but he's a real sweetheart. Not as docile and lamb-like as Romany, but an honest spirit who likes to learn and perform. He can be nervy, though, and isn't too confident with other horses - Becca found a bitemark on his crest when he first arrived, so they think he used to be bullied a bit. He can get a little strong in the hand, though, when he really gets into something, so he's ridden in a full cheek snaffle, for just an extra bit of turning power and lever action.

For the benefit of Lakewood's ongoing story, Tyke's been out of work for some time while he settles into life with the other horses at Lakewood and gets over his herd confidence issues. On top of that, and in-keeping with what's been discovered about health with Timekins so far (and because Tatty loves a problem horse), the crew have worked out that Tyke's somewhat of an ailment prone pony. He had a bad reaction to his annual shots, has had bouts of Azatouria after work, if not cooled down sufficiently and has been more recently found suffering from a dust induced cough when stabled on straw bedding. With good management, none of this affects him, but it does mean he's a bit of a special case.

So there we are. I've been trying to draw him again for ages and I'm hoping now that I've got a better idea for his conformation, I'll get more of him done
