Thank you. I remember going through several stages (I want to say around 20) of using aquatint. Laborious, but oh so enjoyable.

Haha, I would say... I'm still getting use to aquatinting.. it can make such rich tones.

I love all the detail in this and the fact it's an etching o_o for me at least etchings were the hardest thing I had to do in my art courses. Great job.

This was a fun piece to do, etchings are very tedious but rewarding. I know I probably dipped this piece more then 25 times just to get the acquatint right.

Yeah that was why I was never good at etchings. Well it paid off it's really so amazing and I just love how you blended all the details like the tea and roses into it.

Nicely done. Used one copper plate only? Is the color on her hair done with a pencil, or did you print with that color?

TeacupBee In reply to fjelldal [2010-05-15 01:21:02 +0000 UTC]
Thank you! Only one copper plate was used with many levels of aquatinting. Anything that has a bluish or reddish hue is colored pencil.

Beautiful style, so delicate. I adore the way you've used colour, the subtle hints of blues and greens in amongst the grays really bring the piece to life. The flow of it was what really caught my eye in the thumbnail though, I'm a sucker for this kind of gentle ebbing artwork. Gorgeous.

The tone you used for the hair is lovley- it's black enough to be identified as black, but all the ripples of whatever the proper name is for that tone of brown, particurally the bottom part between the sets of roses.

Wonderful! Absolutely wonderful! Never seen anything like this before. I love it.
I'm inlove with her hair, and I like how you can see a tiny bit of her tongue sticking out of her mouth.

yes. This is a one of a kind..there are some Test prints but they didn't turn out like this final one. So this technically is a print of 1/1. I edited above comment for pricing.

Oh my gosh, you've raided my brain! haha, kidding, this is fantastic... Just the other day I was trying to come up with something like this... A woman's profile, a cup of tea with steam rising, the long floaty hair, all centered around the color grey... Instead it turned into this: [link]
