Description Templars: Friday the 13th October 1307

This is the night Philippe le Bel sent his armed militia to arrest all the Templars in France. A few managed to escape, allegedly with some treasure, and perhaps even the "holy Grail", whatever this may be. The chest certainly contains interesting, if not detrimental documents or items. At this point, the soldiers of Philippe can be heard hammering at the front door. The escape, if successful, will be very adventurous.

This piece was exhibited at The Art of Digital Show, at the Lyceum Theatre Gallery in San Diego. It was selected by Dr. Hugh Davies from 2730 entries which were submitted by artists from 32 countries around the world! All because of that cowardly, oathbreaking bastard of a Grandmaster was an idiot in Jerusalem. If not for his actions, all of Europe would have erupted into a riot at Philippe's betrayal of the Templars.

Excellent historical painting, on the day Philip IV gave us his rendition of Ahab desiring Naboath's vineyard. I really liked it! Awesome, definitely looks like something we might have seen in one of their French priories the day of the raid. I bet people are still tying to find that chest they are hiding.

The complexity of this piece is stunning, and the slight variations in angle throughout the image really helped make the desperation and fear in the Knights come through. Not intentional, I think, but very effective none the less.

I'm so happy to see an artist depict this event in history. Thank you! I'm no expert on the subject but the Templars have always fascinated me. Not only is this a great work of art but it's a wonderful teaching tool as well. At least people will know how "Friday the 13th" came about. Hopefully that will influence others to dig deeper into this society.
