Description You know what I almost never draw? Fanart.

You know what I really, really felt like drawing today while marathoning through the first half of Battlestar Galactica season 2? Fanart.

So here we are. For some reason, I was utterly compelled to draw Starbuck with the Arrow of Apollo. Something about the image of her going around Caprica carrying that thing struck me as very mythic-art somehow, and I got this idea and even though I should really be doing other things, this picture didn't feel like letting go. So I went on my maybe-twice-yearly fanart splurge. And I liked it!

Please do note- I've only seen the first season and half of the second. If you've seen the whole thing, please PLEASE don't talk about stuff that happens later. Thanks!

HELL YESSSS, omg, it's fantastic. GREAT show. I absolutely ADORE Helo, but I think my favorite character is Lee... partially because he reminds me (SO MUCH) of Farael, and partially because, well... he's just hot. I kind of love everyone, though! ~Arthulin are getting a cat this Christmas, and we're thinking of naming him after Admiral Adama.

ahahah xD!Really Apollo looks like Farael? For his health? I don't like him because i like tall man *_*!And Helo's so good xD he's a good giant xD ahahha!and i like his nose °_°!

My bfriend loves athena and he've done also some BSG's pieces [link] , i think kara its particular to draw..!

Apollo doesn't LOOK too much like Farael, but they act almost exactly the same (right down to having an admiral parent, lol!). I do have to admit, I like the fact that Helo is taaaaaaaall.

I would LOVE to train a cat to say "So say we all." That would be the absolute best thing in the universe.

Kara is sexy AND ballsy. Not many female characters can pull that off in a science fiction series or movie ( Or anywhere else ). Maybe Tasha Yar, Susan Ivanova ( From B5 ) or Captain Janeway from Voyager, & Ellen Ripley. Great rendering of Starbuck.

OMG, yessss, she absolutely is. Definitely a reason she was one of my favorite characters in BSG! I'm thrilled that you like my version, I almost never do fanart so it's not something I'm MASSIVELY confident about. But this has made me feel good. Thank you!

Science fiction NEEDS more strong, confident, commanding female characters like Kara & the others I've mentioned. She & Susan Ivanova could be sisters or cousins across time.

Ah, thank you! I've now finished the third season, and I'm taking a little break before the 4th. CRAZY ENDING IN THE THIRD SEASON, OMG!! I can't wait to see more, I'm totally psyched.

HAHA YES. Yes, I do. I just started watching it pretty recently (we don't have cable TV, so I couldn't watch it while it was airing, but that means I can watch the whole thing in a big chunk and not have to wait for new episodes! ). But yeah, I'm really enjoying it. I'm glad you like the pose and the ribbon. I'm really not sure why the ribbon's there, but it felt necessary.

The posing on Kara Thrace looks pretty good. I also like the detailing of her clothes too and the Arrow of Apollo that she's holding!

I have seen even less BSG than you have (wasn't my thing) so I am unable to spotil it for you I recognised Starbuck though. To be honest, I wish she'd done more dancing about like this in the series then I might have liked it more!

Lol! Yeah, everything is better when it's all mystic and art-nouveau. How much HAVE you seen, exactly? It started with a miniseries that I was none too sold on, but then I watched some of the actual TV series after hearing endlessly good word of mouth, and was immediately hooked. I was glad the actual series got rid of some of the (what seemed like) extraneous space battles, which are far and away my least favorite part of any sci-fi.

I have no idea whether I watched the mini-series or series proper as it was back in 2005 (I suspect it was series proper as they didn't make loads of plot progress and I suspect the friend who owned it would have the proper series). I'm with you on the big space battles - for me it's enough to see two seconds of one ship firing at another and I get the general idea from that... not huge battle sequences.

Urgh, me too. I find them SOOO BORING. D: It's kind of irritating because Alan likes to think space battles ALWAYS = EXCITING TIMES, but frankly, I just get bored, because (in a ridiculous confession) I even have trouble telling one ship from another unless they're DRASTICALLY different shapes. Fortunately, BSG (I think, at least) has relatively little of that- I think they really only do it if it's actually plot-important.

Oh, you're not the only one. Unless they're totally different I tend to be "one spaceship attacking another, dunno which is which!". I tend to rely on the human reactions to tell me which is getting blasted

O RLY. It sounds like STUFF I HAVEN'T SEEN YET IS GOING TO BE EXCITING!!

Whether or not you're definitively a big fan, you at least know who the hell this character is, so that's still a plus. I've heard a lot of people were really disappointed with the ending, but I'll have to wait and see what I think once it's over.

I'm a big BSG fan. Ach, the ending and the beginning of BSG isn't too grande. But BSG is more about the journey, not the destination. Besides, anything with Saul Tigh in it keeps me happy.

Funny you should say that, I didn't really like the beginning either. I'd heard really good things about the TV series, but of course it started with the miniseries, and I wasn't terribly impressed with that. I'm glad I eventually gave it another shot, though, because so far the series is like... everything I liked about the miniseries, minus the stuff I didn't.

I have to say, I really, really enjoy Tigh. Not sure why this is, he's a fantastic jerk 70% of the time... but maybe that's what's so fun about it! Baltar and Apollo are totally my consistent favorites, but everyone else has had their moment of being my favorite too, so it all evens out.

The third season cinched Tigh as my fave- mainly because I enjoy his flaws the most. To a certain degree, he's honest and tries to do the right thing.

But he always seems to fuck it up in very human way. Baltar does that too. But Tigh also lacks Father issues, and seems to be one of the few characters that is deep without having some problem with his Father.

Ah. Now I wanna to rewatch the series...

AAAAH YOU SHOULD WATCH IT, it's a totally awesome series. I've now seen the first three seasons, and so far it's actually living up to the amount of hype and praise it got. I'm so glad you like the pic! I totally know what you mean about the face angle, I keep finding myself doing it over and over for no specific reason other than that I just love it.

Ah, thanks! I had a LOT of fun with the pose. Drawing people mid-float is always fun, you don't have to worry about the stupid ground plane.

Eee, thank you! I'm not sure if I'd really call this "action" so much as "not standing", though. Action, to me, is MUCH harder because it actually involves, like... tensed muscles and exertion and stuff. Someday I'll be able to do an action pose that's not floating in midair!
