so, this is Tea Time! been workin pretty hard on it for the past few days. there was one point where i felt it would be impossible to get done...when i was doing the LINEART. it took forever. i may post WIP pics of this a little later so u guys can see the lineart. or a tut or something...dunno. anyway, i had hella fun doin this. i loved this movie and the entire idea of the mad hatter's tea party. the picture turned out so much differently than the picture in my head but i'm almost glad it did.
...and when AREN'T my clocks set to seven o'clock?? haha
oh! and i hid a couple things in there like the dormouse and that kinda stuff.
anyway, the hat was killer to do. i didn't have a comp on vacation so i went to a barnes and noble and STUDIED the alice in wonderland visual guide haha...i don't exactly know if this counts as a fanart or not??
anyway enough of my ramblings

you're right, i really need to vary my perspective. i have an art trade planned i'm doing with a friend. i already have what it is going to be in my mind and it is a big step ahead for me in terms of perspective and content XD i'm really excited.

Firstly, I must really say: Your coloring skills ROCK! All of your 2010 work completely stuns me. You use copic markers masterfully, seriously.
I can really see that you have an eye for details and symbols. This show us how much thought you put into your work.
As for an atempt to give you some constructive thoughts:
Like I mentioned, I went back and checked your earlier work as well. I can't quite nail it, but it almost feels like I get a wryneck when staring at them. There is something particular with the perspective that seems stale.
This might be a conscious choice. But I would really enjoy your art more if you varied the perspective.
What I mean is, it feels like your paintings are stillife, but with characters instead of flowers with a pedantish kind of upfront perspective.
Otherwise, the only detail in this picture that annoys me is the Hatters (for us) right hand.
Lastly, I just want to mention that I'm really impressed with the wrinkles of clothing, and the details of the leaves. Your coloring skills are really impressive!

i know what you mean about the perspective. i've had a lot of head on images in my head for a while know that i wanted to get out and it seems like they're all coming out at one time. i know this picture and the queen are very head-on and i will definitely try harder to do some different angles in future work.
as for dramatic perspective tho...like bird's eye view or worm's eye view, i think i'll wait til i'm a little bit of a better artist and i'll practice a lot on it. haha it's difficult for me.

This is gorgeous, and with so much detail! I just wanted to say that the only thing that seemed off about the picture was the wrinkles in the jacket. It is buttoned tightly, but the top right wrinkles beneath the pocket watch look... i can't think of the word, but they feel like their flowing in the wrong direction. The opposite side wrinkles hug around the torso and make it more round, but the straight ones make it seem flat.

Please tell me you are going to art school!!! I looked at ALL your pics in your gallery and I love them all this one is probably my fav. Its absolutely amazing!!!! I draw but now i feel like the anime I draw shouldn't even be called a drawing...its more like a doodle compared to this!!! I love it I can't get enough of your pics. They are truly my inspiration

Oh that's absolutely not true tho >.< Talent just has nothing to do with it! I started as a completely terrible 8 year old and it's taken another 8 years to get where I am today! Half my life has been practicing for this!! LOL I'm sure if anyone put as much practice in as I did they will be here in no time
