Description So this is the first costume I made. Ezio Auditore from Assassin's Creed Brotherhood, with the Ebony robes.

The whole costume took me around 300 hours of build time, and I learned many new skills, from pattern-making to sewing to leatherworking. I still have much to learn, but it's a fun an exciting hobby and I'm quite satisfied with how this costume turned out.

I've also done a complete write-up of my process here, on the RPF:
www.therpf.com/f24/ezio-audito…

Also, I won the pan-Greece costume competition with it, so if all goes well I'll be representing my country at the EuroCosplay contest, held at the London MCM Expo, around the end of October (25 or so).

Which means that I still have a lot of work to do on this costume, basically... to rebuild almost all of it. So stay tuned for more!

As always, Comments and Critique appreciated!

Great effort for a first costume! I love the leatherwork. I can see a lot of potential for your future costumes if you keep it up

Thank you, illumis88! Yes, I do hope to make more costumes, and I will definitely not stop working with leather... I love the stuff.

you made the leather parts from real leather? wow, that must have been alot of work and money going into this .

Thanks, toeki! Yes, I want whatever I make to be as "real" as possible, which for me means cutting as few corners as possible and using as many accurate materials as possible. It was a lot of work, and yes, leather is indeed very expensive, but I had a blast and can't wait to make more.

Np, and I do love to cosplay, but I never done it before. But hopefully I get to next year, cause where I live is in New Bern and the only convention that I only know is Animazement and it went by.

Cool. I live in Greece, so cosplay events are hard to come by. In fact, there are only two that I know of that take place all year. It's fun, but personally I enjoy making the costume more than wearing it/cosplaying the character.

Nice, so how old were you when you first cosplayed?
I live in the U.S.

This was my first cosplay. I'm 18.
Dude, the U.S. has tons of events. But I guess it's also a big place, so they're hard to get to sometimes, eh?

fantastic work, especially on the leather! Coincidentally, I am in the finishing stages of my Ezio Wetland Ebony as well.

Thank you, CheesyKnight! Yeah, the leather is also what I'm most proud of. Cool! Do you have any progress pics?

NimsCraft In reply to ThanatosIndustries [2014-04-28 20:15:22 +0000 UTC]

not a lot of progress shots, btw what thickness of leather did you use? and did you sow it by hand or machine?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

ThanatosIndustries In reply to NimsCraft [2014-04-29 13:30:18 +0000 UTC]

I used 2 - 3mm leather for most of the armor pieces, with 1-1.5 or so for lining and backing. And I took a TON or progress pics. Hundreds, actually. Did you read the description? I posted the link to a write-up I did on the RPF forums, detailing as much of the process as I remembered to photograph.

Here it is again:
www.therpf.com/f24/ezio-audito…

Also, I used a machine to sew everything. By hand would have taken entirely too long for me. No way I can afford that much time right now.

Thank you, noelowl! I'll need it.

Well, the first costume I made by myself. I've been making costumes for a few years but nothing serious and my grandmother was essentially doing all the work. But I finally decided to sit down and make something serious, so I do consider this my first actual costume.

cryptidxcreature In reply to ThanatosIndustries [2014-04-28 23:16:28 +0000 UTC]

haha i don't think you'll need it as much as you might think, this is really well done! n_n

ah that's fair. it's one thing doing something with the person who taught you right there helping you and another thing completely to do something all on your own. especially leatherwork!

ThanatosIndustries In reply to cryptidxcreature [2014-04-29 13:36:57 +0000 UTC]

Thanks! Haha well my grandmother didn't teach me anything at all... xD Classic greek grandmother, didn't want to see a man sewing So I learned whatever I had to learn about sewing all on my own. The leatherwork was a mixture. Many things I researched and learned on my own but also I would go down to the leathershops downtown where the artisans over there would show me how to do things and give me tips and stuff. So I really learned a lot of things from them.

oh haha i see, how silly! i didn't think that'd be a thing, i guess i'm too much of an optimist when it comes to such stereotypes. well that's even more impressive, really, and also very lucky that you have such a nice learning resource so near to you and so willing to help!

or rather, how people regard such stereotypes, like men sewing, etc.

Yeah, no, grandmothers in these parts for the most part are still pretty, if you will, "old-fashioned" about such matters. xD
