Thanks, toeki! Yes, I want whatever I make to be as "real" as possible, which for me means cutting as few corners as possible and using as many accurate materials as possible. It was a lot of work, and yes, leather is indeed very expensive, but I had a blast and can't wait to make more.

Np, and I do love to cosplay, but I never done it before. But hopefully I get to next year, cause where I live is in New Bern and the only convention that I only know is Animazement and it went by.

fantastic work, especially on the leather! Coincidentally, I am in the finishing stages of my Ezio Wetland Ebony as well.

not a lot of progress shots, btw what thickness of leather did you use? and did you sow it by hand or machine?

I used 2 - 3mm leather for most of the armor pieces, with 1-1.5 or so for lining and backing. And I took a TON or progress pics. Hundreds, actually. Did you read the description? I posted the link to a write-up I did on the RPF forums, detailing as much of the process as I remembered to photograph.
Here it is again:

Also, I used a machine to sew everything. By hand would have taken entirely too long for me. No way I can afford that much time right now.

haha i don't think you'll need it as much as you might think, this is really well done! n_n
ah that's fair. it's one thing doing something with the person who taught you right there helping you and another thing completely to do something all on your own. especially leatherwork!

oh haha i see, how silly! i didn't think that'd be a thing, i guess i'm too much of an optimist when it comes to such stereotypes. well that's even more impressive, really, and also very lucky that you have such a nice learning resource so near to you and so willing to help!

Yeah, no, grandmothers in these parts for the most part are still pretty, if you will, "old-fashioned" about such matters. xD
