Description *I'll take your requests on which god or goddess to do next; see below!*
____________________

I've been developing my Godlings characters bit by bit, and most recently I've been sketching busts of them to work out their primary features and colors.  I'll be posting them here, proof that I really do make art! ...just not finished art very often.  These character busts were meant to give me a reason to design the various minor characters that appear in Godlings, but also as an exercise to practice making distinctly different faces, something that I know a lot of comic artists struggle with, especially when it comes to pretty women.  These do not take into account full costumes that they might be wearing; they're just the base character, for my reference.

Most of the busts I've done so far are women, therefore.  I will eventually be getting to all the male faces as well.  And of course the Egyptians with their animal heads are a whole other issue.
____________________

The first of my male character busts, keeping with the Egyptians, because I was on a roll.  Sobek presented a dreadful challenge, not least in how to draw him in a way that suited my needs and didn't look like absolutely every other person's drawing of him.  (Same goes for a lot of these gods.)  But gamely I march on, tackling things like the unbelievably complicated network of varying scales and color patterns that Nile crocodiles have, and shooting myself in the foot by giving him "hair" made of strands of green beads.  (It's Quetzalcoatl's feather hair all over again.  Oy.)

Up next, Anubis, the last of all the character busts finished so far.

But as I said under Bastet, I'm showing an AWFUL lot of gods and goddesses in the opening chapters of Godlings, and it's nothing but good practice and good prep work to sketch out how I'm going to show them all.  If you've got a favorite amongst the Egyptians, the Greeks, the Norse, the Celtic, the Hindu, or the Aztec pantheons, let me know!  I might have them down as appearing in Godlings, and I'll take requests as to which bust sketches (like these) to make next!

Does he swallow food whole, does he chew, cut the food into small pieces and pill pop them, does he not eat, or have you never thought about it?

I'm thinking he's a god, and he's been around for thousands of years, so he can do whatever, however he damn well pleases.  I wouldn't argue with him.  But don't blame me for the questionable logistics.  The Egyptians worked all this out millennia ago, so I'd take it up with them.  I'm just playing with their toys.

They were conquered like six times.  Fun fact:  The Greeks beat the Egyptians by putting the symbols of Egyptian gods on their shields.  The enemy soldiers wouldn't dare raise a sword to fight, and those who did were killed by their own comrades.
