Description It's underwater month over at , so I decided to drop in due to my love for blues and greens, and because underwater scenes are awesome.
It was interesting to see how rapidly the contrast drops in water in the first painting. I had some trouble getting the yellows in the foreground right, and the perspective is quite off, too.

The second one was quite difficult to get right, I kept changing objects around. The pillar still is far too thin compared to the reference. I did darken the pillar quite a bit to give it a more intense core shadow, as it felt too flat to me. I also managed to record the last 75 minutes of the painting (first part got corrupted again, sorry). You can view the process here: [link]

Feedback is very welcome!

Thanks!
But I don't think you should concentrate on doing speed paintings anyways. It's a nice way to pressure oneself now and then, but sometimes you also need to slow down and take your time while practicing. If you want to get faster, it will come naturally as you keep drawing and painting.

Eh I don't want to concentrate on them, just want to actually do some, I think it would be good for me to do a few ^^

Very nice! It was a joy to watch your recording, of what you could record that is....dang technology.... You gotta love it and hate it at the same time for crashing and so on..... such an awesome tool when it works.

Thank you! Yes, I think it's good to try and not always depend on technology. But I guess everything's fine unless it's turning against us xD

Your words are very heartening, thank you!
I think I didn't do the second one quite justice, though, and rendered too much in the foreground.

Nice job on the colours, though the foregorund is more yellowy and higher in value in the ref. I really like the overall texture feel you have, especially those rocks in the background, they look like really realistic out of focus rocks. Bet that took you like 2 minutes to do as well but it looks spot on . Nice job.

You're right. I tryed to get the tone right in the foreground, but I couldn't get myself past a desaturated yellow at most... I've noticed that behaviour in my other paintings already, too. xD
It's all about seeing the shapes with those rocks in the background, really, and after that one can either start by blocking in the darker value and paint the light over it, or the other way around. I find starting with dark somewhat easier, though.
