I'd worry about a stray ball if I were one of the sea-folk, but in a way it does make sense to watch the battle on the surface where you could SEE what was happening and how much of a threat it would pose... and, I suppose, if you were kindly, to help those in the water. Β Very good depth of composition, nice sense of a naval melee, your havefruen are marvelous... a Favorite!

Well, the battle went on for hours, and it was quite close to the shore. So it is entirely possible to get a good look of the bay from the harbor area. It was a favorite for recreational trips for the bourgeoisie.
