Description I took this picture at the Netherlands Open Air Museum in 2019.

When the choice was made at the Open Air Museum to build a tram track, they also started to build a replica of an Arnhem tram.

An original Arnhem tram was unfortunately no longer available, because the depot, in which practically all trams were located, was badly hit during the battle of Arnhem and it was then decided in Arnhem not to rebuild the tram company, but to replace it with trolleybuses. , which still runs today, albeit with more modern buses.

This motor vehicle is a replica of the series 70-75 and the subsequent number 76 has been given to this motor vehicle.

The GETA 76 has the motors, switch boxes and resistors of the ever present RET 530. The Java bogies (trucks) of the 76 are completely new built, as well as the box itself. Unfortunately, the story goes that the trucks come from the RET 530, but that is based on a misunderstanding.

The RET 530 belonged to the TS working group Frans Hals, who wanted to make a replica NZH A 500 of it in 1993 (and further). This project was not carried out and therefore the parts could be used for the construction of the GETA 76.

Despite the fact that the Arnhem tram runs on cape track (1067 mm), the replica has been built on standard gauge, to make it easier to use other trams.

On August 18, 1994, the construction of this motor vehicle started. On January 21, 1997, it left for Amsterdam for the trials and returned to the open-air museum on February 16, 1997, after which it could be deployed.
