Description Eleanor Rigby
Picks up the rice in a church where a wedding has been;
Lives in a dream.
Waits at the window,
Wearing the face that she keeps in a jar by the door -
Who is it for?

-from Eleanor Rigby by the Beatles.

Another Beatles inspired piece. I did a bit of research on the real Eleanor Rigby, and determined about the age she would have been before she entered her (unfortunately unhappy and brief) marriage.

The model is my friend and former flatmate, the background a stained glass from [link] 's stock, and the playing with the concept of foreground and background deliberate; to make the church stained-glass window part of her image of herself.

Coloured pencil, 11" x 14", 2010.

The nearest she would ever get to getting married herself.

Ah, see all the selfish people...

Thank you! It definitely had art noveau (or jugendstil) influences. I'm glad it had that effect even without mentioning it in the description.
