Description And now ladies and gentleman, I present to you, the last enemy list of Paper Mario Celestial Legends! Originally, I was also going to submit the Infinity Commanders, but I decided to scrap that since the Cannon Men…well…pretty much ARE Infinity Commanders. So taking their place is an interesting group. Who are these guys you ask? It’s none other than those annoying assholes themselves, the Sidehoppers from the Metroid series. That’s right guys! A Metroid Enemy is now a Paper Mario enemy! What? You think Brawl can be the only Nintendo crossover related game? PFFFFT!

SliverEmperor remade the log .w. thanks friend

SCAN COMPLETE.
CREATURE: Sidehopper. A massive insectoid creature that hops around with its powerful legs. Its origin is unknown, but its physiology is unlike any known organism on this planet, implying that it is some sort of extraterrestrial life form. Although its biology is largely impossible to process, scans indicate that it is highly aggressive.
STATS: HP 8/ATK 4/DEF 0
ATTACKS: Pound/Side Stomp
ANALYSIS: A Sidehopper's preferred means of attack is jumping on its foe, using its great weight to deliver a powerful blow. It can also put all its weight into a single vicious stomp, forcing foes into the ground; victims buried in this way are unable to perform any actions or guard from attacks until they unbury themselves. Guard well to prevent the side effects of the stomp and defeat the Sidehopper with powerful attacks.

SCAN COMPLETE.
CREATURE: Grimhopper. A Sidehopper variant living in Cherry Blossom District. Its feet are coated in toxins secreted from glands near the base of its spines, allowing it to weaken its prey before it goes for the kill.
STATS: HP 14/ATK 7/DEF 0
ATTACKS: Pound/Side Stomp
ANALYSIS: Both of the Grimhopper's attacks will poison its targets; combined with the burying effect of its Side Stomp, this can rapidly turn the battle in its favor. Guard well to nullify the toxins.

Apart from the poison, it is essentially a stronger Sidehopper, so the same tactics apply. Take caution, however, when moving through the fields; Grimhoppers often crouch within patches of tall vegetation in an attempt to ambush opponents and get the first strike.

SCAN COMPLETE.
CREATURE: Chillhopper. A Sidehopper species found on Cold Shoulder Summit. It is a surprisingly effective burrower, using its powerful legs to carve massive tunnels and caverns into the ice, but it has even less tolerance for heat than other species in the area. It is likely that the recent activity in Violent Volcano forced the Chillhoppers deep within their burrows, explaining their previous absence from the summit.
STATS: HP 21/ATK 10/DEF 0
ATTACKS: Pound/Side Stomp/Earth Shatter
ANALYSIS: A Chillhopper's body is extremely cold to the touch; consequently, it will freeze anything that makes direct contact with its body. If it freezes a target while performing a Side Stomp, the ice will form a damaging spike that harms anyone that passes over it. If someone is behind the trapped target, they will be unable to perform direct attacks due to the spike in their path; ranged and aerial techniques are a necessity if this occurs.

Due to its increased leg power, a Chillhopper can also create powerful tremors by jumping in place. These tremors damage all targets at once, but inflict relatively low damage. An effective strategy against it is to exploit its intolerance of high temperatures; apart from taking extra damage, Chillhoppers have been known to suffer stat drops or even flee when faced with a sufficiently powerful fire attack.

SCAN COMPLETE.
CREATURE: Darkhopper. A Sidehopper tamed by the Infinity Empire and set to guard the Hollow Mines. It has been exposed to Darkron radiation, greatly increasing its strength.
STATS: HP 30/ATK 15/DEF 0
ATTACKS: Pound/Side Slam/Earth Shatter/Multi Pound
ANALYSIS: A Darkhopper's carapace is covered in a thin layer of brittle scales surging with Darkron energy; any contact with the beast will make these scales break off and embed themselves in the one who touched it. This leads to a status ailment called “Detonate”, which covers the victim in dark red gases for 5 turns. If left alone, the Darkron energy will saturate the victim's body and violently explode within them, instantly wiping out all of their health. If the Detonate victim is buried when time is up, the explosion will create a wave of Darkron energy that hits all other enemies, as well as leaving behind small Hollow Crystals that prevent direct attacks against the Darkhopper and its allies.

The Darkhopper's Earth Shatter ability is stronger than the Chillhopper's version, but it still lacks the ability to inflict negative ailments on opponents. If the tide turns against it, the Darkron in its body can give it an occasional surge of adrenaline, allowing it to perform its Pound attack multiple times in succession. Timed guarding will negate the worst of its arsenal, but these alien behemoths should be defeated as quickly as possible with the strongest attacks available.

Sidehoppers: Metroid Series (which is owned by NINTENDO)

Whoa! This is highly unexpected...who'd have guessed that these hopping freaks would make an appearance in a PAPER MARIO fangame? Maybe the Infinity Empire pulled them from their home universe, thinking that they're otherwordly demons or something...well, can't say they're not intimidating.

They look pretty good in Paper Mario style, but keep the alien appearance that would make them highly unsettling to any travelers in this game. Sounds like they're a lot tougher when you don't have powered armor or an arm cannon handy...of course, the new ailment-inflicting skills don't help you out in the slightest, either.

And congratulations are in order for finishing another enemy list! You're quite good at this by now...shame about the tattles, though. So much wasted potential...but not to worry, for we'll fix them up as soon as you send them to us!

Leonidas23 [2012-08-12 01:10:37 +0000 UTC]

As if Ninjoes and Sammer Giants being in the Majestic Kingdom isn't enough, now we got SideHoppers! Of course Squorps couldn't get much information, since they're from another dimension. Same goes for the Pokemon enemies in Paper Mario Darkness in Time.

... Oops, did I spoiled something?

Anyway, what I would like to know is where is the regular SideHoppers at? And why are the ChillHoppers fought in Cold Shoulder Summit more powerful than the GrimHoppers, despite it being in Chapter 5 while Cherry Blossom Way is an area that Mario haven't been to?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

TheSpiderManager In reply to Leonidas23 [2012-08-12 01:17:23 +0000 UTC]

Exactly -w-

Regular Sidehoppers are found in Chapter 6, the Noir Road.

As for the Chillhoppers, Ahem. Squorp, if you would mind.

Squorp: "Chillhoppers are always found in harsh cold environments and will not settle for anywhere else to set up their habitats. This would explain why we didn’t encounter any of them on our first visit.

'Regular Sidehoppers are found in Chapter 6, the Noir Road'

Then how come, when you sent me the list via note, they're found in the Haunted Ship, according to the note?

Leonidas23 In reply to TheSpiderManager [2012-08-12 01:20:21 +0000 UTC]

Ah, that makes sense, so ChillHoppers can only be fought after Chapter 6 is completed (due to the order of the enemies), right?

All in all, interesting enemies. So these are the last enemies you're posting, right?

TheSpiderManager In reply to Leonidas23 [2012-08-12 01:24:01 +0000 UTC]

you mean Chapter 5 XD And yes, after you beat Chapter 5, the volcano gets clogged and Cold Shoulder Summit returns to its cold glory

Yes they are =3 The rest will be just the Rare Enemies.

Now then, I do believe SOMEONE is waiting for the "list"

Leonidas23 In reply to TheSpiderManager [2012-08-12 01:27:25 +0000 UTC]

I see. Well with the way the stats look on the ChillHoppers, you would probably not want to fight them until after Chapter 7.

That I am.

Darkron is the Infinity Empire's energy source that comes from Hollow Crystals, found in the Infinity Empire.

Two things, what are Hollow Crystals exactly and what did you mean by Cannon Men in the description?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

TheSpiderManager In reply to DragoLord09 [2012-08-12 01:25:18 +0000 UTC]

1.) Hollow Crystals are dark purple crystals found only in the Infinity Empire. these crystals produce Darkron which is the main energy source for the empire.
