Description
Closer, one of the common monsters from Silent Hill 3. This is a reproduction of the original game artwork made by Masahiro Ito.Originally started for a SH meme in september, but I'm too lazy to finish it. So I just completed this drawing.
PS : have you noticed the chinese letters on his arms ? I didn't know until I started to draw him.

these are one of my favorite monsters and yes i have noticed the markings but i have no idea why them have them :I
what came to the biggest shock to me not too long ago was this:
Me- "man i love the closers! they are badass! If I was a monster I'd be trying to hook up with one XD *in joking tone for they are again one of my favs*
Friend- "you do know that they're female monsters right?"
Me- "wha-? no way!" *looks it up* "WTF! THEY ARE D:"

I wrote "chinese" because they originally come from China to Japan, but sure I guess it's Japanese. The only problem is that there are errors on it. Masahiro Ito had intentionally made a mistake, but impossible to tell why ^^

I honestly had to compare it back and forth with the original to see the difference. Awesome job, I first thought this IS the original artwork!

Oh, Im sorry, I thought mandarin was the name for the things that hang in the room the little girl locks you in. Now that i check back, its not. ^_^;;

These are Flesh Lips. Mandarins look very similar to Closers except they are hanging under the ground.

Fantastic work! Particularly nice work on the Closer's skin tones, it looks just as creepy as it was intended to be!
The only negative is that those kanji aren't correct

I don't know why, but Masahiro Ito likes to put these wrong kanjis in his works, like some fake kanjis written by occidental people : [link] (one of his personal works). I thought it was interesting so I keep them wrong ^^

Merci. Pour SH2, tu risques de pas le trouver neuf. Ca se trouve facilement en occasion par contre, sur des sites de revente. Sinon il y a eu le Silent Hill Collection pack, avec le 2, 3 et 4 pour le prix d'un jeu sur PS2, ça doit déjà se trouver plus facilement.

Je sais lire ce qu'il a marqué, et en fait ça veut rien dire. Ce qui est étonnant c'est qu'Ito, lui-même japonais, a mis ses lettres qui sont erronés un peu comme si ça a été écrit par un étranger qui s'y connait rien. Il l'a déjà fait aussi dans ses travaux personnels. C'est ça que j'apprécie chez lui, cette liberté artistique qui va chercher à dessiner des lettres chinoises erronées sur un monstre de Silent Hill ^^
