The M315 MGS is part of the Modular Armored Fighting Vehicle-3 series, the MAFV-3 was an entry to the Next Generation Armored Modular Vehicle program by the Ryan Aerospace Enterprises. It uses wheeled skid drive instead of the usual tracked design its competitor uses. This particular variant is the M315 Defender MGS, it's armed with a 120mm light-gas gun in a two-man turret and a 15mm Heavy Machine Gun on a remote weapon system. Like the IFV model it's also equipped with a pair of Iron Curtain High-power Hardkill Laser Active Protection System capable of intercepting missiles and high explosive rounds up to 1km range.

The M315 was designed to provide heavier fire power than a 30mm auto cannon of the IFV variant. Its 120mm Light Gas Gun can hit harder than a standard 120mm cannon found on tanks like the M1A1 or Leopard 2A7 50% more powerful in fact. In contrast to a 60mm LGG on the M9 Lee the 120mm cannon has a full 100% increase in penetration with recoil easily handled by the plastic composite vehicle. The Defender MGS has a rather popular place in colony defense forces as it can bring tank like firepower to a problem with out the price tag or complexity of a M10 tank. The smaller 120mm cannon also comes with a higher elevation letting the vehicle function as an indirect mortar system. The commander and gunner sit in tandem style seating to help consolidate crew protection. The ammunition and loader balance out the turret although if something does beak through the vehicles defense the auto-loader can be severely damaged or cause the ammunition to catastrophically destroy the vehicle. As the weapons have kicked the vehicles weight up to maximum end of 35 metric tons by default. However this makes the M315 unit weighs the exact same weight as a full protected M9 Lee while bring enough fire power that can destroy Main battle tanks. art by StupolevBear
