DEREK: (primary personality) Derek remains in touch with his 'down home' roots, often having a fairly 'cowboy' like personality: he never puts himself above anyone else yet refuses to be below them, maintians his moral code as bet he can, and is determined to handle any challenge presented to him. He has a very high work ethic, and is constantly working on something, he doesn't work to gain anything for himself but rather to make others lives better; often at his own expense. Derek believes in taking as many precautions as possible when working with or planning for a group, yet has a terrible habit of handling personal vendettas with much less forethought. He is very smart, and knowledgeable in many subjects. He is particularly fond of Egyptology and the art of strategy. Derek tends very quiet and understanding person... but he isn't typically very social. Derek is trust worthy and incredibly loyal to his friends and superiors. He would rather die than betray them. Due to his role as General he has had to adjust to his fear of people and keeps a neutral impression. yet at the same time, he takes a lot of guilt upon himself for most everything that goes wrong and all that he has done wrong. he feels the need to try and protect everyone he can, and is more than willing to sacrifice his life so that someone else won't get hurt and often struggles with his failures to protect those he cares about.
ANPU: (secondary personality) Anpu exists as an embodiment of Derek’s inner emotions. He has his own mind, but he is still basically Derek, just with an emotional adjustment. Anpu cannot feel emotions such as nervousness or fear, he refuses to submit to anyone, and he is literally incapable of lying. Any emotion Derek feels and suppresses will display itself in Anpu. His inability to lie and boosted self-confidence make him a bit of a trickster, prone to cracking jokes and doing things to make others feel embarrassed, also known for being highly flirtatious, which can be troublesome when Derek takes control again.
Anpu has a bit of difficultly balancing any emotions he does feel, prone to be entirely consumed by one emotion at any given time, such as Wrath or lust. Anpu rarely manifests himself and has no specific triggers. He usually only comes out when Derek has been knocked unconscious in battle or when Derek is being overcome by emotions he can’t normally handle.

Back-story: His father was the well-known Archaeologist Larry D. Rogers, this meant Derek was born into a wealthy family… but he never got to enjoy it. His father was kind to him, but would spend months at a time at dig sites...His mother, Elizabeth, was cruel woman; a terrible drinker who tended to get violent when she drank. Once she was really drunk and slashed open Derek’s arm, leaving him with a long scar down his right arm. Elizabeth offered her son no help with the wound and passed out shortly after, being only 10 at the time Derek had no way to get himself to the hospital and to this day does not recall how he managed to end up there by the next morning. He basically grew up on his own; when his mother wasn't drunk, she pretended he didn't exist. Luckily, he was very smart and easily made his own way in the world. Bullying at school and no love at home drove him in a few long suicidal periods. He didn't actually get into Egyptology until he was in middle school.
The stories of Egypt helped him escape from his life, if only for a moment. Day after day he would bury himself in a book that spoke of pharaoh’s achievements and gods of the great desert, but after a while he had read and learned it all... by high school, the depression was setting in again, nothing could keep it away... he had to get out.
And he did, one day he ran away; he wanted to get far away as possible. Derek stayed on the road for roughly 4 months, learning a lot of things from people he met along the way. one day he stopped in a quiet little town and met Noemi, who he learned was his half-sister. Overjoyed at this discovery, he stayed with her and lived in that town for a while. These where some of the happiest times in his life

Origin: in Cairo, Egypt there was a project to create the 'Anubis jackal'. The people in charge of the project wanted to recreate that majestic creature that was the image of Anubis. They wanted to see that sleek black fur, that lithe form, that regal posture and form, and those characteristic pointed ears. For years they experimented with normal jackals. Through selective breeding and genetic modification; after 3 years their first success was born, named Anu. He was perfect... but the next day the project was cancelled because they lost their funding. The people who had funded the project gave up on the idea by that time.
Anu was then sold off to some rich man for a grand total of 13,000 dollars (though considering the time and money that went into him he was worth about 4 times that), as there was no other home for him. This rich American happened to work for the global government. The 'genetically superior' jackal was put through testing immediately. He became one of the parasites very quickly... and escaped just as quickly
The Infection: after escaping under the light of the night, Anu made his way into a nearby town... it just so happened the little parasite found his way into the city museum. While in the museum it came across a strange statue... it had the body of a human but it's head was just like his, right down to the color of the inside of the ears...
While the parasite was examining this strange statue, it didn't notice a teenage boy walk into the room.
Derek was sweeping quietly in the Egyptology section, then he noticed it... coiled on a glass case was a strange black creature with the head of a jackal. he looked up and saw it was looking at a statue of the god of embalming, Anubis... he blinked... it was one of those parasites that came about from that government experiment...
He took another look at the creature's strange resemblance to the statue of Anubis, taking it as a sign he quickly grabbed the creature and swallowed it headfirst before it could react.

he was instantly transformed into the parasitic form but it didn't last long. somehow Anu and Derek came to some form of agreement without words, which had an interesting result. In that moment, a third personality was created. This new personality was mostly based off Derek's personality, but braver, stronger, and far more dominant. The new being, taking residence in the newly created Symbiote form looked around...
Derek and Anu are mainly in control, managing to get along well, the third personality only comes out in emergencies or instances of extreme emotion. Other than that Derek controls the human and Symbiote forms, Anu controls the parasitic form. Derek has learned to please Anu by letting the parasite pick what they eat. Derek was brought into the Harmony by Lavvy, and actually trained under her for a while until she assigned him the role of general
Personality: comparatively, some might say Anu is actually smarter than Derek. If nothing else, the jackal seems to have a much larger amount of common sense than his human. He is known for his sarcastic nature, and is usually very quick to point out when someone does something idiotic. Anu is very refined, born and groomed for high style life since birth. He was created to be a luxury pet after all. He doesn't typically come out and take control often.
Anu has developed a taste for human food, as being part of Derek he get a taste of whatever Derek eats. He can 'tell' Derek what he is hungry because he has learned how to give Derek cravings... Derek normally accepts these cravings, so he doesn't anger his partner... and because of this he has eat some really weird things
