For joining Valkyrie Industries.

ANRI COLBURN
Born and raised in Volcano Town. She had a place of her own until it was burried in the eruption of Mt. Kila. She blames the Battle Frontier for not doing enough to protect her home. As a refugee, she was relocated to Hero City, only to lose that home to Kyogre's flood, which she also blames the Battle Frontier for. Emotionally broken, directionless, and homeless, Anri slipped into a life of petty crimes as a pickpocket, preying on the many tourists in the post-flood Hero City. After accidentally stealing Plank who was in a lifted purse, Anri began to take a few pokemon when she could manage it, resulting in her current team of stolen pokemon.

She's got a fair amount of street smarts, feeling more at home in the slums than the suburbs
She can talk herself out of a fight (with seduction if need be) about as well as she can talk herself into one; but more often than not, she'd rather just fight. No stranger to vices like smoking, drinking, and casual swearing. Anri has no love for anyone or anything anymore, including herself. Somewhere deep down, she hates what she's become and wishes she could go back to the way things were a year ago.

Anri doesn't care much for Valkyrie Industries or what they represent, but she'll be damned if she lets some outsider group push her off her home-island. Joining Valkyrie seemed like the best way to stay close to home. She actually likes what the Frontier Initiative claims to stand for, but refuses to associate with it on account of its relation to the Battle Frontier.

PLANK (m?)
Stunfisk -Ground/Electric Type
No one is really sure if Plank is male or female, nor is anyone sure if Plank has noticed it has a new trainer. It's just sort of there. Anri enjoys using Plank as a surfboard. Contrary to its appearance, it's moveset makes Plank a competent battler, flopping around and moving in unexpeted ways.
Ability: Static
1 Discharge

3 Flail -(stronger with low HP)
4 Surf
Note: Immune to Electric moves.

DREADKNOT (f)
Dusclops -Ghost Type
"You're not my trainer. I don't like you. And if I get the chance, I will kill you."
Dreadknot was really close to her former trainer and consequently despises Anri. She doesn't obey Anri and threatens her and has made a few attempts to kill her. But placed in a fight she refuses to lose and won't hesitate to use dirty tactics, which leads Anri to enjoy using her.
Ability: Pressure
1 Gravity -(disables moves that rely on flying or levitation)
2 Confuse Ray
3 Shadow Punch -(Never misses)
4 Frustration
Note: Immune to Fighting and Normal moves.

AYERS (m)
Rhyhorn -Ground/Rock Type
Ayers is rather shy and somewhat slow. As much as he doesn't like Anri for kidnapping him, he would never say anything against her and obeys to the best of his ability. That said, Anri's lack of compassion both in and out of battle--so unlike his original trainer--results in bouts of depression, frustration and uncontrolled anger.
Abillity: Lightning Rod- attracts all electric moves.

Note: Immune to Electric moves.

SPARKER (m)
Luxray -Electric Type
Though he always had trouble connecting socially and enjoyed intimitdating his opponents--his sole reason for wearing a Reaper Cloth--he was really starting to feel close his previous trainer, and really misses her. He finds Anri's lack of compassion rather distasteful and frustrating. Though he reluctantly tries to follow her lead, he continues to search for his previous owner.
Problems associated with the Reaper Cloth led Sparker and his previous trainer to agree on disposing it, but Sparker was kidnapped before doing so. Anri doesn't understand it, however, and insists that Sparker continue wearing it.
Ability: Intimidation

BUZZKILL (f)
Mandibuzz
Somewhat vicious, short of compassion, and rather fond of Anri. Buzzkill actually prefers Anri over her original trainer, and follows her diligently and loyally. Anri doesn't really notice or care about her, but that suits Buzzkill just fine.
Ability: Overcoat -protected from damage from weather

2 Mirror Move -(uses target's previous move)
3 Bone Rush -(hits 2-3 times)
4 Dark Pulse -(may cause flinching)

PSYCHOSOMA (m)
Kadabra -Psychic
"What do you get when you cross a Kadabra with a Hitmonchan? Certain victory."
Psychosoma is a seasoned pokemon. Though he doesn't care much for Anri, his real trainer taught him the virtues of obedience and rising above all hardships, so he obeys Anri. The fighting moves of a his father (a Hitmonchan) and the high speed and special ratings of his mother (a Kadabra) make Psychosoma an adept close range fighter, catching his opponents off guard when they expect a weak distance fighter.
Ability: Inner Focus (prevents flinching)
1 Fire Punch
2 Ice Punch
3 Thunder Punch
4 Psychic

I really wasn't planning on entering Year 2, but I accidentally developed Anri while I was working on Round 8 of Year 1. Basically her creation was governed by two principles: that Ohana Island towns are now acceptable as hometowns made me want to do a character from the now-destroyed Volcano Town; and if she's from the island where is she going to get her non-native pokemon from? The rest followed from necessity of meeting those two conditions. As for stealing Sparker from Kiriana, it was pretty much the only reason I could think of for why Kiriana would remain on the island, and the tie-in back to Year 1 is nice.

The reason I finally decided to join in for year 2 despite how much I lamented how much of my time y1 took is, as an anthro artist I don't really draw humans much (or backgrounds for that matter), and the BFOI is kind of forcing me to do it and I'm sure that practice will prove invaluable.
I really like Anri, and I hope to make this year a good one (assuming I make it into the competition and don't get disqualified for some of the stuff I have in mind ).
