Oil on canvas, 38x46 cm, F8.

This was painted with photo reference for the background - on a clear day, from this spot (a roadside stop during a long, long ascent which certain cars might not be able to make) in the Grampian Mountains in Scotland, you can see all the way to Aberdeen and the North Sea. The lady herself, a Sidhe of the Fair Folk as I like to think of her, was all in my head though. I might have been inspired more than a little by the good old Changeling: the Dreaming roleplaying game, and by Charles de Lint's books, in particular "Memory & Dream".

This took something around twenty hours, possibly a little less, possibly a little more - I am not sure. I learned a fair bit about some techniques one can make use of only with oil paints. Also, this is the picture where, finally, the Harry Potter audiobooks ran out for me. I've been listening to them while painting for a year, and now I've finished them all.

I am very happy with the skirt of the dress, a little less so with the area around the bust, and though she is meant to be leaning on the wall, one might argue I could have painted that better as well. It was very nice to challenge myself to paint her face and hair, and her expression seems to change every time I look at her.

I might consider selling this one for the right price. I would prefer to send it on the frame, but rolled up will also be considered.
