Yesterday we got our first real snow that did more than just dust the ground and Emma was very very very excited about all that white stuff on the ground. In fact, it's still on the ground miraculously and she's still very very very excited about it. Our house is extremely whiny right now because she wants to go outside again--nevermind that she'd just been out two minutes earlier.

Many of the photos that I have of her are much like this--nose to the ground, sniffing and licking the snow. It really was no surprise that she loved the snow though, it really seemed a given with her thick fur that she'd like our normally chill and cold winters. When I looked at this photo, I realized that it would be a perfect one for a minimalist sort of feel to it, so when I processed this, I bumped up the exposure in my RAW editor and then did a little burning to remove any shadows left in the snow while doing a small bit of dodging on her fur so that she wouldn't be as blown out. Oh--and the fuzziness to the fur on the far side of her wasn't any manipulation, it was just the natural effect of the lens I was using.

Hopefully you can forgive me the extra bit of work I did to clean up the photo--but it's nothing less than what I could have done in a photo lab, so I don't feel like I cheated TOO much!
