Personality

Kaen is a wolf who's always strived to be kind to anyone she meets, no matter how mean spirited they are. She believes that everyone deserves at the very least a chance at compassion and friendship, even she's internally frustrated with them or their attitude. This philosophy has lead her to be very tolerant of others, almost to a fault. While she won't lie down and be physically assaulted or attacked, Kaen really doesn't mind being called even the most colorful of insults. Actions mean much more to her than words. She also abhorrs conflict with other wolves, and prefers to stay far away from disputes and fights where possible.

Because of betrayals in her past, Kaen often finds it hard to trust others. A wolf must prove themselves to be trustworthy and honorable before she'll truly open up to them. Once she has opened up to someone though, Kaen is one of the most loyal companions you'll know. She may even put aside her fear and disgust for fighting if it means defending her friends and family from harm. If there's no fighting needed, Kaen is always there to be a source of comfort and moral support. However her trust issues and months of living alone have made her somewhat of a loner who has trouble working cooperatively with others. In situations where teamwork is a necessity, Kaen troubles to keep up and accomodate her peers. It will take a lot of adjusting for her to be used to working in a group.

When it comes to problems and conflicts, Kaen generally avoids it as much as she possibly can. This leads to her troubles piling up somewhat, until the point that she literally cannot sidestep them any longer. She's highly adverse to being hurt, and while making a valiant effort to stand up to danger, usually ends up fleeing from it before long. She's quite easily spooked as well, and can be quite skittish if she feels threatened.

Pre-Group History

Kaen's story began in her birth pack, a very family oriented society with a matriarchal power structure that stipulated only females from the alpha bloodline could become alpha in turn. Kaen was the middle pup in a litter of 3, with one brother and one sister. She was the smallest of the litter, as well as the weakest, and her brother and sister would often tease and heckle her, playfighting with her because they knew she hadn't the strength to win against them in a fair fight. Kaen tolerated the treatment, knowing it would only be worse if she made a fuss about it. Despite everything she maintained a good relationship with her siblings, raised well by their parents to be forgiving and fair. Other pups in the pack tended to avoid her and her siblings, but she didn't quite know why.

As a juvenile, Kaen learned exactly why the others avoided her. Her mother, though a bit distant, was part of the alpha bloodline. The other wolves tended to avoid her and her siblings out of a mixture of reverence and fear. Now isolated from the other young wolves in her pack, Kaen became more reserved, focusing on making herself a better member of her pack where the others refused to acknowledge her. She practiced with her sister, becoming skilled at taking down small game like rabbits and birds. In the meantime, Kaen's brother was being trained by Callida, a young but skilled border guard. The two were inseperable friends, to the point where he became distant to his family. Though worried, Kaen could do nothing to convince him to see her less often.

Slowly, Callida became friendly with the rest of Kaen's family too. Her wit and keen sense of humor made her popular with even Kaen herself, and she grew to trust Callida where she had once resented her for taking her brother away. Kaen had no idea what a mistake it was to trust her until it was too late. 6 months after first meeting Callida, the resourceful she-wolf struck down Kaen's mother and sister, having conspired with her brother to gain their trust and easy access. This attack was part of a greater plot on Callida's part; her aim was to kill every heir and take the alpha position for herself. Kaen was targetted in this attack as well, but she and her father managed to escape, though they were separated by the incident.

With no home to return to, Kaen wandered the land as a loner, surviving but yearning for the kinship of a group. After a particularly hard trek through the mountains to the west, She found herself on the edge of Chandor territory.
