Description MMI (Minecraft Mob Idea) The Dune Worm

Dune worms are man sized worms that swim in the sand as if it were water. Sand blocks are the only blocks they spawn in and move in. They can jump 3 blocks high, but thats only if it's trying to get you when ure on a higher elevation. If it lands on anything but sand, it will pretty much be stuck and will attempt to dive back into safety of the sand, it's pretty much defensless in the open. When these things leap at you, they will latch on to you and slowly pull you into the sand, which will then slowly sufficate you. Note that they do not pull you down instantly. (They pull you into the sand at about 1/2 the speed of your sneak) If more worms latch on to you, they can pull you down faster. Dune worms are uncommon and spawn in vast sand areas (About 10x5 block space required). Since they are light and squishy, they have 3 hearts and move slightly faster than the player. It can heal underground if untouched for 5 seconds.

These creatures will drop 0-2 slime (since worms tend to be wet and slimey) and/or 0-1 worm bait for fishing.

Collision: The worm has a 1/2 x 1/2 collision (each segment has it's own collision box).

Cool, I love your sand worm

You could make it eat cow and pigs who step on the sand blocks. This would be a awesome mod...

I think it would be cooler if they jumped at you from underneathe you and made you jump into the air a bit, making you lose half of your health, that's a lot simpler.

I can see it now. They'll make a movie out fhis monster. They'll have Kevin Bacon playing a lead role. It'll be genius.

And then they'll make a couple of sequels and a TV series and it'll never be spoken of again.

Completely original and not copied off of any syndicated television show or set of movies.

You don't need worm for fishing.

Also what if the worms "ate" the sand blocks? That's how it could have the "quicksand" effect.

And for the sand block eating part, thats not that bad of an idea! Maybe occasionally it would eat the sand blocks when it sense you above it so you would fall down into it's trap!

Yeah i know u dont need bait, but maybe bait can be used to increase the chances of catching fish and/or allowing you to attract new kinds of fish if notch ever does so.

So while they're pulling you down, I assume your still allowed to hit them, or are you basically screwed?

You can hit them, but they are under the sand while they start dragging you down.

They need to drop teeth that can be used for swords that unless infused with redstone disintegrate when you put them in a chest/drop them.
