It has a that silver age sci-fi feel to it, to be perfectly honest the first thing I thought when I saw it were " Uh Flash Gordon" which is meant as a compliment.

In other words, it seems to be an homage to the original pulp / sci-fi artwork

I love this ray gun! I really wanted to know if I could recreate it as a tattoo design or 3D model?

You know - some parts of this build baffle me a little (think the big cone on the back kind of 'unsettles' the form somewhat)... that aside, the overall look and shape is truly something to behold.... the grip is almost 'Art Nouveaux' in form and the cooling fin adds a nice quirky 'lost in space' feel to it.

The main thing that sets it apart from many prop 'future-retro' guns is the finish. It looks like something that has been actually used day in and day out, but the owner just won't part with it... sure they give it a bit of a clean every so often (there are some shiny bits on there)... but like a car that is rarely washed yet used to go far and near... or a pair of old trainers that have seen better days, but are just so dammed comfy....
The patina and hints of rust really make this piece stand out.

Excellent work sir!

Honey, that's in the wrong category, more like an artisan craft? Awesome all the same though!

Thanks, I moved it. It took me awhile to figure out categories.
