I think the leaf texture came out great but maybe just lower the opacity of it some if you can. Leaves don't normally have that sharp of an edge except up close. I feel like this is a kind of scary symbol from fairy tales where a child wanders a little too far from home and finds themselves getting dragged deep into a creepy, magical forest. I like that the lighting for this is dim even in the parts that are in sunlight. The houses seem a little too well placed. I always think of the houses in this time period being rather layed about hodgepodge because they were never built with an overall plan in mind. I agree with the person above me that the overall merit outweighs any flaws but eh. Isn't it the artist's job to nitpick their work?

Well I can't say crying unless done with the intent of acting counts as art. What I meant by an artist nitpicking their work is that there will always be something that dissatisfies them and that's good. That artist will always find ways to improve and grow.

It's good? I find it's futile. I draw how I draw and it ends up how it ends up. This is what enables me to draw what I draw

Regardless of however you may feel about supposed 'flawed' details in this painting (none of which I even really see (even after you specifically listed them in your journal, which in turn made me TRY to see them), probably because it's nothing that even remotely detracts from the beauty of this as a whole), they are far outweighed by the things that are right with it. I mean, the composition is just brilliant. I can FEEL the serene nostalgia that drips off it, and it's calmly enchanting. In fact it isn't even a snapshot of something, so much as it is a breathing organism that represents more than just a singular time and place. All these actual feelings bring it to life for me, which is far better than being able to say you "drew this line perfectly" or "flawlessly colored that shadow".
It's probably easier for you to see flaws in your work because your art is so grounded in realism, but just like in real life, no person is ever perfect. You can like them for their merits, but it's their flaws that give them character and make them real. You drew it the way you drew it, and to me, it's perfect.
So you can have your 'flaws', but they don't stop me from looking at this and being very happy.
(haha, sorry that was so convoluted. Basically, I LIKE UR PICTURE )

This is incredible! Saccing down from the top, everything impresses me! The tree leaves are so deatiled, you can see every single last one of them. The town and houses in the background look great. I haven't looked at the detail shot yet. Then the light shining through the trees looks so fantastical and other worldly. I love it. And then the vegetation at the base of the tree is so wonderfully shaded. Excellent job.

Oh this is just lovely Tre. I really love the calm feelings I get from not only the scene itself but also that soft lighting and mist behind him. The young man looks very relaxed and in turn it makes me as the viewer feel somewhat relaxed as well. Great work as always.

Thanks n_n Despite William being my most rowdy character, I always draw him being all sleepy and docile ;D

Well that's interesting. Perhaps he just needs a break from being so rowdy so that comes out in the images you draw of him XD

MAHAHAH! MINE! ALL MINE!
Very nice job on this. I don't see what you see wrong with it, but I like it. Far better and more complicated than anything I've been able to draw... which tells me I need to get out of this slump with my art and draw SOMETHING! Anything will do at this point...
I think I need to work on details... I think that is where I am weak on... (And I use to be so good at details. Guess I just started to slack on them...)
