Description Hmm yeah, I had these initial sketches and I don't think I quite captured them... but yeah, I love that the holidays let me dedicate entire days to looking at old military uniforms and reading historical summaries.

I kinda thought Ireland (republic of) would be this fiery Celtic type lass. She doesn't inherit the "eyebrows" because Ireland was the only of the British Isles to fend off the Norman conquest! So I guess that's where England got his from... I kinda see this sad story where England gets "irrevocably changed" by his Norman rulers (who are originally Vikings btw! French Vikings..... ) as they beat the rebellion out of him over 200 years, to become one with the Normans. So Ireland & Scotland kinda watch their lil' bro die...

What's funny is the English kings from then on are ceremonially crowned "King of England AND FRANCE" for a good 5 centuries, even through times they have no land at all on the European continent. Talk about rivalry...

A-a-anyway! What I LOVE about the Irish is their sense of humour and fieriness. They like fighting for a just cause and are very stubborn once they make up their mind. Though they seem really wild and free sometimes, they have a really hard time saying what they think in certain circumstances. An incomprehensible bunch!
They also survive some incredible hardships and like to see the humour even in their darkest hours.

Ms. Ireland has the strongest ties to the Celtic parents of the British AND French civilisations, like a big sister figure to the British Isles. She laments that the "new England" just ain't like her cute Celtic little bro used to be. Can't you just see them all huddled up against the cold and her telling one of her fantastic stories?

And Wales?

Maybe he's locked in a dark dungeon somewhere.......

I like that you passed on giving (south) Ireland the big ol' eyebrows. To me, they seemed like a sign of a being in the commonwealth, or in Hetalia-terms, being a younger foster brother to England.

Which, when you think about it doesn't make much sense what with Ireland not being in the commonwealth and the Celts having been native to the British Isles for a long time before the Normans successfully invaded Britain. It's nice to see this erroneous trend avoided for once. I wonder if Himruya will remember as much if he ever officially has Ireland show up?

Why thankyou I did think a lot about it... I think Himaruya's pretty good at getting those sorts of things right, when he takes the time to deal with the relationships between countries. I didn't know AAaaanything about the Nordics before they showed up in Hetalia and now my knowledge is weirdly sociological.

And A+ for the description, I've learnt Irish history at the University, and I've nearly cried along the lessons...(bad bad Iggy)
siiigh I can't stop smiling, they are so sooo amazing! (I guess the first "realistic" or true Ireland OCs)

Aw man... I'm really really glad this works for people who actually know what they're talking about more than I ever will. Thankyou~ yeah, Iggy is so terrible.. they spent so many years talking about making perfect democracies in their colonial states, while totally ignoring their own backyard for such a long time...
I have to do some more pictures of them. If I find time in some lecture or other...

I had absolutely noooo idea about the whole empire thing (other than that there was one) until I picked up a book about it... man, England owned half the whole WORLD-! D:
I wish I was still doing history now in some form, coz it's always fascinating... I even enjoyed Art history

I wished I could learn it too... if you have a good school that teaches you technical stuff it's really worth it but I'm at uni level, and everything is "conceptual" and "self-questioning", which means teachers don't teach you anything because art should be intuitive... or something.... you may do just as well reading a bit on wikipedia and signing up to a painting class.

Our life drawing class was seriously like that (only went for 6 months though). Draw this pile of junk.... make sure you get the walls in.... bring a ruler....
SOOOoooo frustrating And the teacher just laughed when he walked around & watched us draw.
Ok frankly some of the kids were lame-as interior architecture students with no skill/interest in drawing... so we kinda laughed with him. STILL, very annoying class.

You know what? You're the first person who has actually done Ireland justice!

And i also love the way you did research about us as well! You very right about us finding humour in the darkest of times, my friend and me were watching a pretty gory battle scene and when one person I think got an arrow in the eye all my frriend said was "well hes warmer in the ground now!"

Oh and the whole grudge thing? Thats extremly true, 800 years of occupation!

Sorry I kinda word vomited here D:

Yaaayy~~ I'm really glad you approve phew~ it's pretty hard coming up with these other countries unless it's your own, coz you can never do too much research... at the time I was reading AAalll this history stuff so I got really excited about the idea... yeah. Seems like a sweeeet place to visit I like that Aussies get free beers from the Welsh, Irish & Scottish whenever they meet in some 3rd overseas location, just because they have England pains in common...

Don't worry, I'm actually glad you did research I've seen so many people who put up stereotypes and make them drunk XD!
Hahaha, yeah whenever Im anywhere I always end up meeting someone from Scotland or Australia or Wales! Especially in France, Ive even gotten free cokes from bars when they realise that no im not emglish im actually from ireland.
Oh and can I ask you do you like Australian hetalia character??

Hahahahah... yeah that's the we-all-grudge-England spirit, I guess REALLY I did Ireland & Scotland (and was about to do Wales) because they had so much interesting dynamics and I wanted to be able to explore Iggy's past a bit. (AND explain why he's such a *#@#*$ )

Yeah I do like lil' Bruce, but he's just a sketch He's easy to like!
I guess some of the other countries are a bit "...?" sometimes, but most of what Himaruya comes up with is 100% frivolous fun so you just go with it. Some of the fan efforts seem a bit shallow, but then again I've seen awesome ones out there~

Great Ireland(s). (Is the guy Northern Ireland?) They should have some faeries about like England does- I mean they're even more into that then he is, I hear. ^^

I'm having way too much fun seeing these.

Thank you for enjoying them as much as I do ^__^
Yeah I figure Ireland's fairy culture >> England's. He must be in awe of it, really. Freckles just for you
I was picking between girl and guy designs so there's two of them, I figure it'll be the girl though.

...and, hehe, thanks. ^^
He must that.
yeah, the girl's design is better, I think. (although the guy is cute- he just doesn't really say 'Ireland' like she does.)
