Description
Normally they grow up to 15 pounds, but I grew them from 30 to 40 pounds. and it was just one vine while at the end of the season I packed up 20 watermelons from 20 to 30 pounds each and gave them to the college during the final of the semester. Free for anyone. To be honest, I messed up when I cut open the first watermelon that weighed over 50 pounds. I thought this must be ripe, because it weighs 50 pounds. I even waited a week before I cut it open to find it was white inside. Because of that mistake, I looked for how to know when the watermelon id ripe. Cantaloupe is easy, because when they are ripe, they drop the vine, and you need to get them before they turn to water.
Watermelon has the spot on the bottom, and when it starts turning green then it means the ripeness is getting closer to the rind, and the sun makes a lighter spot on top, while they will turn yellow when they are ripe. They are not like tomatoes and ripen after they are picked.
