Assignment for Brian Buniak's class. The assignment was to take an iconic image and alter it in some way. This is the infamous Kirk vs Gorn fight from The Star Trek Original Series in the episode "Arena". Kirk and the Gorn are in the same positions as the famous Muhammed Ali vs Sonny Liston photo. Penciled and inked traditionally, colored in photoshop.Related content

This is a great idea, well executed. On a personal note (which is of no interest to anyone but me) your source photo of the fight from February 25, 1964 is one of my favorites because that is the day I was born.) And by the way, Brian Buniak seems like a great guy... I've bought prints from him at pop culture conventions in north Jersey a couple of times. Again, I love your work!

Thanks for the compliments! That's an interesting story, it'd be cool to have a world famous photo to relate to my birthday. Buniak is great, he teaches the Humor and Caricature class here, his class is a lot of fun and his art is amazing. He is currently working on an "Angel and The Ape" story.
