Description
In 1940, as France was was falling to the rapid German advance, Winston Churchill and Charles de Gaulle came up with a radical idea to keep the french fighting, the Franco-British Union. This union would have ensured joint citizenship, defence, foreign, financial and economic policies.

In this timeline the proposal is accepted and the FBU fights alongside the USA and the USSR to defeat the axis, however cracks soon appear in the alliance and the Cold War begins. At first the USA and the FBU worked closely to contain the soviets (even working together to win the space race) but ideological differences, the FBU's continued colonial wars, increasingly anti-monarchist sentiment in the Americas, FBU efforts to distance Europe from the US and constant spying by both parties led to the Franco British-American Split.

Now in 1950 the world is split between three spheres: the capitalist, republican world headed by the USA, the imperial, constitutional monarchist world headed by the FBU and the totalitarian, communist world headed by the USSR.
