Description TYRRANUX UNIVERSE [OLYMPUS ERA] PROFILE #013; HEPHAESTUS
GOD; the Forge, Fire, Metal, Technology
SYMBOL; Hammer & Anvil
WEAPON; Flame Devourer (Blacksmith Hammer)
VOICE OVER; Jim Cummings
THEME SONG; Dethklok "Volcano"

The middle child among the brothers of Zeus [link] . He was born lame, his very face thus deformed and making him so hideous that he was casted aside by the Titan Rhea who was horrified at the very sight of him. He was then raised by the Nymphs and the Oceanid Eurynome, however the sea cave he grew up in was rich in unstable Ambrosia that mutated half his being into a matter much like the cave rock. Ironically it was this same Ambrosia that he had used as raw ore when learning the ways of the forge, his first creation was a legendary sword capable of killing Titans, the very blade once wielded by Athena herself (and only she knows of what happened to this sword).

As he grew into adulthood he was found by Zeus who did not fail to see the sheer value of his lame brother's skill, apointing him the very weapons manufacturure and engineer of Olympus' army, even bestowing upon him his bride Aphrodite [link] ....who of course wanted nothing to do with the poor lug. Desperate for at least some form of companionship, he decided to manipulate the Ambrosia still festering in his body and mutate a sentient creature from the flesh on the side of his face, he dubbed the small creature "Raymondeus". On top of that, he had forged from the Ambrosia rich bronze an artificial daughter he called "Pandora", but only for a small while was he able to raise her for he had to hide her away in the mortal realm from the other gods (Hera especially).

Whilst Zeus at least pretends to be a carring brother, the other gods don't even show Hephaestus any kindness or respect. He's simply the guy who forges their tools, armor, weaponry and anything else they desire, nothing more. So he pretty much keeps to himself, he and Ray just tinkering away with their devices. Just that and nothing else, a rather cruel life of solitude.

But why would he have to hide Pandora from Hera? Is it because Pandora is a "robot"?

I guess, maybe a key to ultimate power or something just like with God of War 3. This is another one I need to update....

So you pretty much based the human Raymondeus on Ray the Firefly from "Princess and the Frog", eh? Seems all right to me.

In the original myth, Ty boy, Hephy was really the son of Zeus and Hera. Nothing bad, though I would like you to get your myths right.

Interestingly enough not even the writers of the past got their myths right, good God are there so many different interpretaions of the mythology. In one version Helios is an Olympian, another he's a Titan, stuff like that. According to Greek poet Hesiod (this quote from wikipedia) "Aphrodite was born when Cronus cut off Ouranos' genitals and threw them into the sea, and from the aphros (sea foam) arose the goddess".....and then in other versions she's just the child of Zeus.

I just simply didn't see my own rendition of Heph as the son of Zeus, not after seeing how he was potraided in GoW3 (not sure why though).

Gepetto makes a puppet, praying and wishing it will become a son.

Hephaestus creates this little machine girl, hoping it to be his daughter.

Basically it's Pinocchio, part two.

And a lot of the other Greek Gods, like Gaia.

Actually she's a Titan (at least in some circles), Helios too. I noticed a lot of times a lot of characters go back and forth from being either a god or a titan when you go from rendition to rendition.

At least he wasn't BORN with that....THING attached to his face.

Kinda reminds me of an evil businessman type who keeps around a technologically gifted autistic brother around to profit off the latter's genius.

AND the fact that Zeus married off THIS ELDEST DAUGHTER to his SECOND YOUNGEST BROTHER further proves that the Olympians are a buncha arrogant, inbred nobiles the OTHER pantheons avoid inviting to parties at all costs....
