**WARNING - SPOILER ALERT!**Complete version of my first entry for 's "Fortitude" contest [link]
Fortitude
Chapter 14
Shade fell silent at this and simply gazed at me from across the room.
“…But I do,” he finally replied softly, turning his head to look away. “…I do know.”
He then turned back to me, and I tensed as he took a few slow steps in my direction.
“…It was after the connection broke…wasn’t it?” he asked me suddenly, still speaking in that same quiet, mournful voice. “When you could no longer feel him…” He stopped so that we stood no more than an arm’s length apart. “…That was when you despaired.”
The connection?
I stared at him in shock, struggling to process his words and their impossible meaning.
But…how…?
“…H-how could you possibly know about that…?” I demanded in a harsh but shaky whisper. “…Who are y-”
I broke off with a light gasp as he suddenly rushed forward to take my face in his hands.
“…Don’t you know?” he whispered softly.
Though I had drawn in a sharp breath at his touch, I found myself releasing it slowly, shakily, as I finally looked up into his hooded face…
Blue eyes, beautiful azure blue eyes gazed back at me with a deep tenderness that warmed me to my very core. There was only one man who had ever looked upon me with such eyes…

Oh, wow, my gosh, you did such a beautiful job coloring it! I mean, the textures in the walls, the candle, Zelda's hair... it's just amazing! Both of Link's and Zelda's expressions are done so well... I love the atmosphere you captured in this. Absolutely wonderful job, thank you so much for doing this, and I wish you the best of luck in the contest!
