Description
Tantulord, though not as popular as Widoweb, is a focus in my most popular deviation period. I made some slight changes since.

This is one of two fake evolutions for Ariados that I made, the other being Widoweb. For the sake of members who have not read this on Widoweb's profile: The evolutionary method for the two is exactly the same (level 37 or higher while holding the Cob Web); what determines whether Ariados evolves into Tantulord or Widoweb depends on gender; if the Ariados is male, he will become Tantulord, a very powerful but slow physical tank with an insane signature attack; if Ariados is female, she will become Widoweb, a well-powered special sweeper with comparatively excellent speed (over twice as much as Ariados and Tantulord) with an even more insane signature attack balanced by the fact that it has no effect on female/genderless Pokemon or male Pokemon with Oblivious.

Tantulord can either have a Rough Skin rip-off, or an ability that is like an inverse Poison Point where you can poison a foe with any physical attack, but the chance triples if the attack is bite-based, like Ice Fang or Crunch (both of which it can learn).

Ability: Venomous Contact - The Pokémon has a 20% chance of inflicting poison on the foe with any physical attack. If the physical attack is bite-based (Crunch, Ice
Fang, etc) then the chance increases to 90%. In the case of the elemental fang attacks, the chance for both status conditions is calculated, but the poison will override the burn or freeze or paralysis status conditions if it is calculated positive.

PokeDex Entry: It hides in large bushes, then sweeps its prey with its leg to poison them with needles. It is highly territorial and will attack anyone and anything which comes near its nest.
Signature Attack(s): Venom Sweep - The user sweeps its legs to inflict damage on the foe. Powerful and sure to badly poison the foe, but inaccurate.

Tantulord is also capable of learning a brand-new move that, while it is not exclusive to him, is not learnable by Widoweb.

Molt - The user sheds its exoskeleton, lowering Special Defense by one stage but also increasing Attack by two stages and Evasiveness by one stage. Similarly to Protect/Detect, this move does not work in immediate succession.
