Over the past several years since its founding, Project Astartes has had to go through numerous and varied changes to many ideas key to its predecessors so that it could survive while away from UNSC-controlled space. One of the many fundamental changes it went through included the main members' armor and weapons. As of 2557, there have been five main templates of armor that are fundamentally different on a base level. As of the latest iteration, the only similarities they have with current MJOLNIR GEN. II Armor are on external aesthetic and overall function. Many of its base parts have been modified or completely replaced to fit the hostile environments the members of the Project, known as 'Astartes', 'Legionnaires', or 'Space Marines', commonly find themselves in.

Each suit of armor, starting from Mark II onward, is extremely durable, made of an advanced material known as ceramite, which is an incredibly sophisticated fusion of ceramics and titanium. It is capable of withstanding enormous punishment, especially against energy and heat based weapons such as Covenant-grade plasma and Forerunner hardlight weapons. This makes them extremely durable, an essential tool for prolong exposure to the field.

As of 2557, there are five armors variations used by the Space Marines, each a revered mix of function and art, although most lean towards the former so as to provide the wearer with as many advantages as he can get. These variations are, from left to right:
