Description
A quick doodle in the same vein as yesterday's--this time it wanted to be a mudskipper. Very well. In honor of the mudskipper, I will now commit bad poetry.Ahem. (cue bongo drums)
"Ode To A Mudskipper"
O mudskipper
You're not much of a fish
you're no salmon, certainly
to go leaping up the falls
with your back scaled with rainbows,
nor swordfish, nor sleek-jawed shark
there's not much to you, mudskipper.
But
on the other hand,
you can climb trees.
And for a fish, you know,
that's pretty good.
(Okay, okay, I won't quit my art job...they really can climb trees, though. Low ones. Near water.)
Anyway, more fun with random splattery abstractions. There's something very soothing about those. Not high art, nothing complicated, but I enjoyed it. Original 10 x 20 is for sale, prints available, drop a note or visit [link] for details.

There are loads and loads of mudskippers near where I live. It's so freaky. Sometime you just take a walk in the park and suddenly you see something slimy peering out at you from the mangrove trees. They're freakishly cute...I've always found them a little retarded though...>>;

Dig the colors. And yeah, even though they aren't the prettiest fish out there...they can climb (sort of), and that makes them way cool.

That is the most amazing doodle of a mudskipper I have ever seen. I haven't seen many doodles of mudskippers, but that tops the list. Thats also the best ode, especially the ending about the trees.

you know, now that i think about it, a mudskipper looks very much like a critter that could have easily come from your very vivid imagination. isn't it fun when the real world is weirder than the ones inside our minds?

While they cannot jump up a waterfall of any great dimension, as I remember mudskippers can still fling themselves higher than most humans if need be.

Looks like an exceptionally detailed primitive cave drawing of some extinct prehistoric beast, complete with cave wall. Excellent bad poetry, too. I didn't know mudskippers could climb trees. They sound like a demented invention of Monty Python.
