I'm surprised you went for the blue coat for 6th Doctor.

Ha yeah! It's a variant from some of the audios and comic strips. I made an older poster before the 50th anniversary and I wanted to do things differently so for the doctors I could, I used alternative micros (hat and cloak for 1st doctor, wooly coat for second doctor, a different suit for third that I used for the old poster, Night of the Doctor eighth doctor, more recent eleventh doctor than the other poster and of course the blue sixth doctor as I wanted to use as many different micros possible which I could be arsed to make.

Fair enough. I actually like the more recent outfit for the 11th Doctor but everyone else still prefers the tweed jacket. What do you think?

I much prefer his recent purple attire. I thought the old tweed jacket was....okay but didn't have as much character as the newer costume plus the new outfit is more "doctorish". Plus purple is pretty much my favourite colour, although I keep changing.

I can relate. Purple's one of my favourite colours too.
The tweed was good for its time but I grew bored of it after they brought in the green over coat in the second half of series 6 (which was hardly used)
When I first saw the purple attire I thought that'd be great for the 12th Doctor (before Peter Capaldi was announced) but I it worked for Matt in the end.

Cool. Yeah I loved that green coat, wish they used it more. Completely random addition but awesome and welcomed nonetheless.

Indeed. If you think about it, the silhouette is very similar between the 12th and 11th doctor's second outfit. Slim jeans, boots same length jacket.

Indeed. I wish they were doing some same merchandising as they did for when David changed to Matt, like this specific poster:Β 3.bp.blogspot.com/_SzjiIYYytJM…
The only thing close to it for Matt is thisΒ doctor-oho.deviantart.com/art/…

Yeah, that would be nice. I feel that for a while now they've not done as much with doctor who as they could and should have done.

IKR, they're doing all the sissy gimmicky stuff that nobody actually cares about instead of the precious rare stuff that used to be done right.
The very first teaser for Matt Smith just after The End of Time Pt2 was a perfect teaser: the DW Tardis logo fading in and out of black screen with the Tardis landing sound effect and then text appears and it reads SPRING 2010. One of the best teaser trailers in history.

Valeyard-Parallax In reply to tulf42 [2014-08-01 19:49:05 +0000 UTC]

Personally I prefer more from my trailers. I say instead of having lots of little ones constantly just have one or two big ones that are rare. Unless of course It's a long storyline. For example the first series finale adverts which counted down everyday worked really well.

tulf42 In reply to Valeyard-Parallax [2014-08-01 23:38:23 +0000 UTC]

If its a proper trailer then I expect a good amount but nothing that'll ruin the ending, because I will remember every camera shot and line and I expect it to be used in the film at some point, ASM2 was probably the worst time this happened where half the lines in the trailer wasn't used in the film.
When it's the Teaser Trailer, I love the ones that reveal very little and it's more of an announcement, like the first Transformers teaser trailer with the Beagle 2 Mars Rover footage, or The Dark Knight teaser with the bat symbol crumbling apart with voice overs, or a more recent example: Avengers Age of Ultron with a line from each main character whilst the Iron Man helmet changes into Ultron's head.

Teaser's are best when they have little or no footage of the film I think. Same with Pre-Rendered teaser trailers for video games. For example Batman Arkham City where you see Arkham Asylum has become half of Gotham along with the surprise of Joker's old age. Another example could be Sonic Generations with Modern Sonic running in what looks like Green Hill and then suddenly see Classic Sonic appear (which shocked every Sonic fan with joy)

Countdown trailers aren't too bad if it's just within a 3 day period. ASM2 went overboard with their countdown ads on Facebook, it wasn't cool.

I varies fir each thing it advertises I think. Yeah ASM2's advertising went overboard, I really wish is was a box-office bomb as it would have taught Sony to make a proper Spider-Man film and stop copying the Avengers and the rest of the MCU.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

tulf42 In reply to Valeyard-Parallax [2014-08-10 02:01:31 +0000 UTC]

I guess it does vary a bit. OH Just remembered another load of teaser trailers that are always fun to watch: Disney Pixar film teasers, mainly Monsters Inc and University, The Incredibles, Cars, Ratatouille, UP and Toy Story 3.
The only reason I can think why Sony is making Spider Man like the Avengers is so people can believe more that Spidey may actually join the Avengers at some point in the film universe...
Then again it could work if Spidey was a bit more darker like Batman and may as well join Justice League.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Valeyard-Parallax In reply to tulf42 [2014-08-10 09:02:26 +0000 UTC]

The current incarnation will never join the Avengers, the studios would never agree to it. There's more chance of an X-Men vs Avengers film, but that's highly doubtful. I'd like them to go darker with spidey, it worked well in ASM1. The more light-hearted nature of ASM2 really didn't work, it worked with the first trilogy but not for ASM2.Β

tulf42 In reply to Valeyard-Parallax [2014-08-10 19:26:34 +0000 UTC]

There is an actual comic series Avengers vs X-Men, but Spidey is involved so I don't know how well they'll work around it in films.
I hope they'll go dark for the Sinister Six film though.

Well I assumed it'd be a prequel of some sort for the S6 since they're planning a Venom Prequel as well

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Valeyard-Parallax In reply to tulf42 [2014-08-12 06:39:46 +0000 UTC]

tulf42 In reply to Valeyard-Parallax [2014-08-12 16:31:55 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, but if it is a prequel it would explain why Oscorp have already got Doc Ock's tentacles if they had a previous encounter before ASM2...

I'm actually wondering once again who the official Sinister 6 will be...
We know there's Doc Ock, Vulture, Rhino and Green Goblin. Possibly the return of Lizard. Possibly Venom and Possibly the Chameleon or Mysterio...

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Valeyard-Parallax In reply to tulf42 [2014-08-20 19:57:12 +0000 UTC]

Lizard won't be in it. The line-up will be Vulture, Doc Ock, Green Goblin, Rhino, Kraven, and either Mysterio or Chameleon. Remember that sequence at the end of ASM2? Well that teased the villains above (although it wasn't clear on one of them whether it was mysterio or chameleon).

tulf42 In reply to Valeyard-Parallax [2014-08-20 21:12:15 +0000 UTC]

You could be right as there is what looks like an eye near the start and it could either be the lion's eye from Kraven's top or the eye buckle that holds Mysterio's cape
