My first train model (not including the various HO scaled, O, and S scaled I worked on). This one's a Revell kit, its non functional, though i wonder how easy it would be to make this into a running model....
Its all box stock, i was wanting to try to find some HO scaled side marker lanterns for the front, but i haven't found the right kind yet, If i do find some i can always add them later. Its all hand painted, used up 2 bottles of flat black just on this model! I used all kids of washes, and some dry brushing to weather it, and give the paint a nice grimy, streaky finish. The base is custom made, I bought the wood at hobby lobby, mounted the kit's track to the base, and added some model railroad gravel to the track.

I was inspired by the Boy on display at the "Museum of the American Railroad" in Dallas (Was called the "Age of Steam Railroad Museum") :vash68.deviantart.com/art/The-… I've been going there for years and its always my favorite one to really look at in detail and get up close to.
It was also my Grandpa's favorite as well, he's the one that got me into trains in the first place, and was the most knowledgeable rail-fan I've ever met . So this model was build in his memory
