Thank you very much. I love Carrara but it also makes my head explode LOL I tried to get a larger render but my PC just wanted to crap out so badly. I'll definitely try again if I ever get a new PC LOL.

You're so welcome! How long did that take to render? My most challenging time with Carrara happened when I was doing an animation. Something like 200 frames and it took hours. When it was done, after about frame 50 all of the other frames had the render square at random places on them. Apparently that is actually part of the image as it renders. Yeah my head exploded LOL

I think this one took about 13 hours. Probably one of the longest renders I've had to date in fact. I can't even fathom what it would do with an animation, my computer would have probably choked and died LOL.

Thank you, and you know this one was rendered in Cararra which I think has so much potential as a 3D program but it just didn't want to jive right with my PC.

I just love the way you pulled it off. A beautiful piece of work. Reminds me of when I was living in Japan in 1985, absolutely love the place!

Yes indeed, Japan is a phenomenal place, one I've always wanted to visit, and my hubby wouldn't argue that one either, he loves the Japanese culture as much as I do.

I'm the same. Speak a bit of it, love the food, & also did Karate for about 11 years. When you do it in Japan, it's the most amazing buzz a Karate fan can have. I also got my black belt diploma over there, an awesome buzz!

I'm sorry to here about that. It's F@#kwitts like that (excuse my language) who turn people off any sport, espesially these guys running their own private gyms/dojos. The man who trained us was under the style known as Shotokan, the first known style of Japan. He was also the head founder for the New Zealand Karate Association, given to him under the Japan Karate Association. A very strict man in training, but not to make you a better fighter, but a better person with your self discipline in your lifestyle, other than just martial arts. I love the sport very much, & found it an honour to recieve my diploma in the founding country of Karate.
When I went to Japan for my diploma, we went to a island called Shikoku, then to a town on the island called Matsoyama. It was a training seminar that went on for two months. 8 miles of running a day, 8 hours of Karate traing a day ( 5 hours from 7am-12pm then 3pm-6pm). The running was 2 miles to the dojo & back to where we were accomidated (4 mkiles), & the same again in the afternoon.
Besides living here in Australia, it was the first time I have ever experienced heat like that. But what a time it was. The hotel we were staying at was a traditional japanese style place. everything you ate was raw, sake blew your socks off, but a beautiful place to stay in, Vee.
The people are so different when you get out of places like Tokyo, so pleasant & peaceful. The best 8 months of my life, that's for sure!

I can only imagine what a wonderful time this had to been for you and yes it is quite a honor for you to have been able to obtain your diploma in such a remote place with the rich history. The vigorous training you went through was what I was looking for back in the day, it was something that would have changed my path in life, but it wasn't meant to be. I'm glad that you were able to do those things, a chapter in your life you can always look back on.

It was a beautiful experience alright, espesially the spiritual side of it. The physical side of it I won't forget in a hurry either. Not trying to brag or anything, but I have to say, it was tough going Vee, let me tell you. But all so very worth it in the end.
The only experience I found quite morbid over there, was the museam in Hiroshima (the atomic bomb). Things like shadows on concrete walls from the blast (like x-rays photos), & pieces of remains in these big type glass jars. Half portions of animals & such. But unfortunately, something you just can't forget. It felt so cold in that building, & I don't think I will be in any hurry to go back to it. The only good thing was the Bullet train back to Tokyo. The most extra ordinary thing, when we got to Hiroshima, is we had to catch a bus to the museam. I got to the museam (about 2 hours away from Hiroshima Train station), I had only realised that I had left my travellers cheques & passport on top of a locker there. I was shitting bricks, & could'nt go back till the museam thing was done. But, check this out, when I got back to the station, a man was sitting outside my locker, & asked me if the property was mine. He had sat there for 3 hours until I had returned, to give my passport & travellers cheques back to me in person. Is that honesty or what!

I can only imagine what it was like, and the museum, wow, I bet that was just sad and yeah, very cold. At least they kept the reminders, not like we did anything like that, our country likes to hide the truth more often than I can think of. As for the man waiting by the locker, yes, that is a fine example of a culture that is decent all the way around. How could anyone not love them.

Oh my, I very rarely swear but it slipped out when I saw this image. This is one of the best pieces of 3D artwork I've seen.
Would be asking too much if I could have a desktop size version ?

ROFL, thank you John! And I would love to be able to do a wallpaper sized one, I tried, and tried and tried, but my PC just wouldn't spit it out. We are however looking for some RAM, if we can accomplish that, I'll definitely give it another go!

Was the bug fixed later in a patch? If not I'm surprised since I'm sure this software costs very much. Glad you could get it to render though, it has very realistic water.

This is a Nice use of "HowieFarkes: 'World Garden Japan' Scene". He builds very complex and beautiful scenes as you well know by using it here! If you have the C8Pro 64 bit, this scene will render and handle much better.

VeeSwan In reply to Thelby [2011-05-17 20:11:37 +0000 UTC]
Thank you, Indeed his models are quite amazing. I do have 64bit, but not C8 Pro, I've seen several posts on the DAZ forums that people have seen the same problem crop up with this version but not with version 7. And it would be a hard decision whether to invest in Vue upgrades, or Carrara, It's a tough call.

I only have 4 gig of RAM and sometimes bog down on Vue and even DAZ Studio when I get too ambitious. I wonder if more RAM would help (couldn't hurt I guess)

Ram never hurts, I also have 4gig of RAM and the only time my rig bogs down on Vue is if I have too many objects or polygons but for the most part, it works good when it is working lol. I sometimes have good luck with Vue when I render to disk rather than in the screen, perhaps you can try that.
