I like this for it being something different than your normal, more serene Gaeva-pictures. You really got the dynamics of this down, the "camera" almost cannot even catch her inside the frame...!
As a comment on anatomyy, this is a more exaggerated Gaeva -- she looks a lot more ... streamlined than usual; she has not much of a chest in this picture, she is mostly legs. Also compare her head and neck-length to the rest of her body, I'm not an expert on horse anatomy, but this is a rather extreme ratio.
...however, this does not disturb the image in the least. Anatomy may be off, but this seems to have been done in order to add more dynamics and it certainly has. I really like the pose, she's really throwing her body forward and the expression really does give that determined "I'll be back" feel rather than e.g. fear or panic. It almost feels like she's using her tail as a stabilizer here - lest she'd be lifting off the ground. e.deviantart.com/emoticons/w/w⦠" width="15" height="15" alt="" title=" (Wink)" /> Overall the hairs (in tail and mane) look very good and I also have nothing to complain on the shadowing -- the single shadow on the ground fits well; possibly it would have been interesting with more highlights on her to make the image "pop" more from the rather non-descript dark background.
Good work on this, always nice to see a different pose and approach to the character.

Thanks for the nice comment ^_^
It bugged me a little when I added the wing that you could no longer see her chest to waist ratio (chest being much bigger) but I didn't realize that even so the body was a little lacking till you just pointed it out. I suppose it doesn't hurt the image, but it was intentional!
I'm also glad her expression survived. Before I did the final touch ups on her face she looked a lot more determined and I could not get that back afterwards, big shame. But at least it still shows, yay ^_^
I also went through 9 other background ideas to match the reddish one you see before deciding to go with the single shadow you see now. The problem was that I started almost from the start with that red background and could not change it afterwads anymore as Gaeva's coloring had been adjusted to fit just that...first time I tried that so I'm not sure yet how to handle such a thing in later stages (or maybe it takes better planning ahead of time ^_~ ).
Anyway, I'm glad to hear this little experiment wasn't amusing to just myself ^_^

I hope the wings don't stand out too much as to make it seem they're not a part of her! (Because I often make that mistake >.< ). And I like the smoky quality of her manes and tail as well, I don't get that right very often ^_^
Thanks for the comment! ^_^

Wooh, I like the colors and the way they flow together.
As for horse poses, well, it makes enough sense to me.
