Description pronged-reeds are aquatic tripods. Using their major leg as their main support while the two lesser legs aid in balance. bottom dwellers they feed on sediment and debris found on the swamp floor. They have also been known to feed on smaller animals as well. eyeless they use a combination of echolocation and use of electrical impulses. They are found in small communal families throughout the swamp lands.

This reminds me of storys I have read about ancient worlds. Worlds where plants and animals have formed into one group. Once again great job. Do they have many predators, I would assume so.

There is a fine line between the plant and animal world, add a chromosome here take a gene there, when you come down to it we are all comprised of atoms. Thanks I try my best. The pronged-reed has a couple of predators, but luckily for the specie they produce offspring often.

thanks again!

very cool.

just wondering... being as they use electrical impulses to find prey - is there an "electric eel" analogue in the Pronged Reed clade?

very nice work.

thanks glad you think so! sure is. i'm a firm believer that some of earth's adaptations and evolutionary devices would repeat on distant planets, if it isn't broken don't fix it.

With which part does it eat?

the hole in the triangular head. similar to a stingray, it would sift through the sediment of the swamp to find prey. the two dexterous prongs on the top of its head aid in the hunting, moving the debris as it goes. the 3 holes near its major leg are used for propulsion. they can suck in water and then jut it out for a quick get away.

for the most part yes. yet they aren't found commonly roaming on land, they are more adept in the water.

Well, there aren't many (functional) monopods in the speculative biology field! It's an awesome concept!
