Description Hey everyone! Welcome to the beginning of a new trilogy! Furthermore, I'll be trying something new to describe my maps. The trilogy will focus on both World Wars and the Cold War, but with some reverse morality. This one was a fun toughie and some liberties were taken. Also, the format is an indiciation of an upcoming map of sorts...

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

New World Identified.

Status: Open warfare; equivalent to World War I.

Technology Levels: Those of early 20th century PTL; World War I level. Corollary: Slightly more advanced by a few years.

"It has been several years since the first rifts into parallel universes have been opened thanks to the new technology. Already the hypercomputers have been working overtime to accomplish this. We are fortunate to have moved them to the Poles so they remain at optimal temperatures. For the moment, the Council and the Enlightened One have chosen to merely observe the worlds and should be necessary, prepare to shut down the portal. However, he has declared this world to be of no threat."

"Our intial observations have yielded that this world's history matches up to our own, albeit with some as of yet unidentified changes that have led to a World War I where the parties appear to have different stances. In fact, some of the interns have pointed out that the Entente here are the imperialists while the Central Powers fulfull more-or-less the role of liberal democracy yet, thus they dub this some sort of mirror-world. While not a proper name, it has become popular as a nickname and so shall be classified as a sort for now, especially since the Enlightened One approves of it."

"The conflict started much like the first, a result of complex political alliances and then triggered by Russian Pan-slavism and the the death of the Archduke. Of course, the conflict grew and changed from there, resulting in various changes.

The Central Powers here a collection of various democratic powers, having been stirred by the Russian Empire's mechinations and the various alliances. Leading them is the German Republic. A fairly democractic power, it has grown mighty from is industrial might and engineering knowhow. The optimism of the younger members have led to a growing progressive attitude in leading them. However, the older folk seem wary of the war though the Central Powers have been maintaining the advantage thus far thanks to Germany. Furthermore, Germany's progressive attitude has spread to their colonies, which in turn, is spread to other colonies of the opposing side. The Germans focus namely on the conflcits with France and Germany with assistance from Austria-Hungary, now Greater Austria. The Archduke's plans of a United States of Greater Austria was implemented and despite the initial troubles, the war seems to be uniting the various peoples there and resolving some of the tension. While playing the role of the right hand to Germany, they still have been invaluable in fending off Italy. They government is a strange mix of a federation and a constitutional monarchy though plans are in place to ease into a mroe democratic form of government.

The two states were joined by the Ottoman Federation and the Balkan Alliance. The Ottomans' royalty ended up collasping due to citizen unrest with the economy and instead a democratic secular power came into place. In order to secure peace and stability, they promtoed equality amongst the Muslims, Christians and even Jewish in order to quell potential outbreaks of violence. This longshot allowed them to maintain more control over the Arabian Peninsula and the "old man of Europe" became revitalized with the "oil rush." Having accidentally discovered vast quantities of oil, they took advantage of this to revitalize the economy and fully legitmize the government while making them look like heroes to the people. With the British and other parities eying them , they allied with the Central Powers for protection, having taken great steps to try and patch things up with the Balkans. While secular and democratic, Islam remains a prominent influence here, albeit a liberal one. Christians and Jews are treated fairly and the exodus of Armenians and other peoples have led to "oil towns" being built in Arabia. The Balkan Alliance was created from Bulgaria funding insurgent groups, especially in Serbia. New forms of government took place and an alliance was formed in order to proect themselves from potential Russian influence. They have been getting along better with the Ottomans and have been of great help in the African campaign. The Central Powers has a new member in the form of the Intermarium. Led by the Polish people, it was the result of new lands seceding from Russia in order to stop the juggernaut from treading further. Despite having successfully formed nations against the Russians, the front is still dangerous, but the people are united in the struggle and German and Austrian reinforcements have been helping.

On the other side is the Entente. The Entente is led by the British Empire, who has receded to more imperial practices as a result of feeling threatened by the rising German power. While still a constitutional monarchy, it is fairly more conservative than the its counterpart in the main timeline. This has led to tighter control over its colonies, which ironically the Central Powers are exploiting in the hopes of causing rebellion and turning the tide of war, which has been successful in the African campaign. While their naval dominance still gives them a distinct advantage, the decreasing amounts of unity felt along with the disgruntled attitudes the colonies have been having toward Britain, especially in Canada and in India may spell out the beginning of the end of the British Empire. France has begun to yearn for its days of the Napoleonic Empire and while they are on good terms with the British, they have still resolved to be firmer in their control and governance. While the Germans have yet to take advantage of this, the Balkan Alliance has begun to do so through expeditions sent by Greece to the French colonies in order to look for interested parties, especially in Algeria. The French in result have been trying to keep a greater hold and the front between them and Germany is intense and infamous. Trench warfare, tanks and even the experimental chemical weapon have been seen in the landscape, neither side truly having gained an advantage yet. Furthermore, the lack of progress has been dentrimental to the morale of the French and even with British supplies, it is beginning to prove difficult. However, that's nothing compared to the Russians. The Russian Empire is on its last legs. Despite the Tsar establishing the Duma, observation of crowds and civilians are proving that he has been an incompetant ruler and a coup seems inevitable. Interestingly enough though, it is unsure which group would be the one to overthrow him though some are still betting on the classic socialists overthrowing him and ending the regime. Should Russia leave the war, this will leave Britain and France in a precarious situation and Japan may attempt to exploit Russia's weakness by trying to carve out more land for itself.

Beyond the war, the United States remains isolationist, though they are also fairly more conservative and they have maintained some imperialist tendencies, but has so far stuck to jealously safeguarding its islands possessions while China's civil war has put on pause to deal with Russia and Japan. The Central Powers have maintained advantage thanks to Germany, but some predict Germany may try and court Mexico. Others have noticed that the Central Powers have been pushing for Russia leaving and should they suceed, a massive invasion of Britain and France may be on the horizon.

Yeah, but man this one is my weakest one.

Though with the Great War, there were no real winners. The Central Powers winning just promises less pin, especially if before the Oktober RevolutionΒ

Yeah, World War II is common, but World War I not really. It is in many ways, more impactful than World War II

IDEAS FOR MIRROR, MIRROR: WORLD WAR II

1. The *National-Socialist regime in Poland invades the relatively peaceful Germany to take back "their" Silesia, Pomerania, Danzig and Eastern Prussia.
2. The Federated States of Eurasia (*Soviet Union) is a peaceful technocratic social-democratic republix.
3. Finland is a hardline communist or a pan-Finnic nationalist, racist regime.

Well, I already have most of the map made, just need to add more. Was inspired by RvBOMally's own map. So we have the Mitteleuropa Federation, New Roman Republic and Japanese Commonwealth against the imperial Allies (Soviets are pretty good and with the others out of alliance and complicated reasons.)

Mirror Cold War will be interesting to say the least

Good! Very good, it seems.

Will we see a democratic *Soviet Union in the sequel?

A Mirror Soviet Union will be tricky to try and do since they were considered a lesser evil though I reckon in this case, they might be the token good party member of a Mirror World War 2.

Mirror Cold War though will probably be more like an update of my old Last-Mintue Reversal Map sincethe Cold War wasmuch Gray vs Gray and a morall ambigious conflict on both sides, both doing underhanded things. While I could merely just reverse the politicla idealogies and call it a day, I figure that I could play with things a bit.

Sure. Could we potentially see a Second Ashanti Kingdom? And what about Imerina of Madagascar?

They're not interconnected. Mirror World War II isn't necessarily set in the same timeline as this one nor would Mirror Cold War.

What I learned about trying to use mirroring like this is that there are different ways. Different idealogoies could be adapted and taken to in different ways in different nations because of the culture, economy and other factors. For example, Karl Marx's theories on his form of government applied to more mdoernized nations (like his homeland of Germany of the time) and even viewed Russia as backwater. This means communism in the US would work differently in there than with Russia in regars to transformation and so on.
