Description
So the Velociteer is another in my attempts at making a great jet pack character. The only real twist is that I'm considering putting the Velociteer and the rest of his team out there as public domain, just to see what happens. I've never taken anything that was wholly mine and let it go for anyone else to use. And I mean anyone. I've never actually let a single person near any of my characters.So maybe I will do that.

No, that doesn't work. I even promised myself I wouldn't half-ass the open source characters. My name is still gonna be on them so I want to make sure I'm at least bothering people with something pretty cool (hence the jet pack guy). Besides, most characters are a derivation of someone else in terms of powers and abilities, so it's not like I couldn't always come up with more.
I got 270 original characters I've created, the majority of them in the last two years. I can always come up with more.

Mind you, two (three if you include the Cobra Kid) were already in the Public Domain. I just made it into something bigger.

Vito's got his own big ol' stash of PDSH characters, but go check out pdsh.wikia.com/wiki/Category:C… if you haven't yet. There's tons of great characters that have slipped into public domain there, more than enough to create a pantheon to rival anything Dynamite's been doing. All those characters need is some updating and a post-modern spin and you're good to go!

I don't know about the public domain route. I mean, it would be cool for folks to give the characters a different spin, but I guess I'm a bit more money-hungry than I realized. Student loans will change you, my friend. Of course, I have no issues taking from public domain, so throwing more characters in the ether will only make it better. There's a list around here somewhere.
Still, you never disappoint with the character designs. Looks very good and I'm not usual a fan of jet packs.

I'm money-hungry, too -- got those same student loans -- but I'm willing to try it out as an experiment. I figure I can put a character into public domain and draw on them anytime myself, so why not? Plus, I love to collaborate and see what happens when you get some motivated, creative brains in one place.
How do you not like jet packs? That's -- that's inhuman.

I don't know. It always seemed too close to the body. Looming burn issues with super heated metal so close to the skin. I probably shouldn't take it too seriously. There are some things that could work better... not sure what the technology is called, but it's kind of like the thing (or maybe exactly like) that made the Shield Heli-carrier hover around. It was basically circular fans.

I just liked that SHIELD took a bad ass convertible and said "Yeah, we're gonna use that as our incognito flying spy mobile. Cuz it's subtle."

It was your Irish characters that gave me the idea! I came across them and your other PDs and -- instead of working on what I was supposed to -- found myself sketching up some characters with that in mind. I'd been holding onto the Velociteer for myself but think I'm gonna throw him in.
But basically it's all your fault.

Me neither. But now I do have to draw Hellboy. I promised a friend. And he's Scottish so you can't say no to him. You can try to say no but he'll just start talking with that accent until you find yourself smiling and agreeing.
