Waiting patiently, Damone listened to the rain fall softly on the roof above his head. Just like the previous event, a storm brewed in the nearby forest, causing most to become restless. He, on the other hand, was calmed by these sorts of natural occurrences. He enjoyed watching as the lightning lit up the sky, and then the sound of thunder come rolling to greet his ears seconds later. The crackling in the air always sent chills down his spine, but they were chills that were welcomed, and somehow comforting.
He had always been like this; even as a small child. But of course, he had to be, for his past was not one filled with happiness and regular, fun-filled kid activities. Instead, he spent his time looking after his baby sister, while his mother went and slept around, and his father drank himself literally, to death. It was a tough upbringing, and one Damone didn’t like to talk about.
Sighing, he turned to Ale. Even though the storm didn’t faze the stallion and he was used to it, it was quite clear that it was NOT something he enjoyed. His ears were almost horizontal, and he had a characteristically sour look on his face. He was a horse you could read like a book..a book with enlarged text for easy reading.
He held his head low, and made a habit of over exaggerating his sighs that came at 3 minute intervals, to show his boredom. Damone chuckled softly and ruffled the stallion’s forelock, it wasn’t long now. He was all dressed up with nowhere to go, but he stood quietly by Damone’s side under the cover of the stall. With each lighting strike, he would raise his head slightly, as if he were just dozing off, before it rudely awoke him.
The storm pushed on, and Damone hoped and prayed to high hell that Ale would perform well. The stallion was always rendered grumpy in the rain, and a grumpy horse was hard to work with. Not to mention that this was their second test for the day, and with two more to come..it was really going to test Ale’s endurance. If was the horse Damone thought he was, he’d push through, and come out of this stronger than ever. Nothing would be able to stop him…Nothing would be able to stop THEM.
