Em anyway, this would be the third prairie critter, an American Badger. I've never drawn these guys before, but they are so awesome looking! I thus couldn't help but go overboard on the fuzz and marking complexity so this guy wouldn't see much animation time. Yeah, I know, I draw way too many guy characters. The girls just come out looking so...fake looking, as I'm afraid animals don't have quite the gender definitions that we do. Badgers with thin snouts and long eyelashes look freaky. I know because I tried it. o_O I'll save my X chromosomes for a species better suited to girly looks.
Sorry about slacking on comment replies. I'm trying to pump these out in-between school work and am lacking in time, so please be patient with me!

Go with a motherly look, then, for females. Think Ma Joad from "The Grapes of Wrath", that'd be a realistic feminine look.

Perhaps equating a motherly badger to one of the Redwall badgers would've been a better idea, but I was afraid you were going to say "But that'd copying!" I understand that fear myself, you never never want to copy someone else's character form nor personality. It would defeat the purpose of creativity.

True that! Having only read about two Redwall books I might be able to pull off a motherly badger without it being a Redwall one. And they were English badgers which are so freaking cute and motherly looking to begin with! Until they bite you of course.
