Silly title character limit, making me run my words together...

.... I am really proud of this. It makes me happy. That never happens. I'm sure there's a bunch of little things that will drive me crazy later, but for now... I'm happy.

This picture is a "first" in many ways: it's the first time I've actually left a picture alone for long periods of time without abandoning it--it's taken me three weeks from start to finish (only working on Fridays), first time I've successfully layered my painting over a color sketch, first time I've actually gone back and corrected things as I've worked, first time I really payed attention to color/dramatic lighting, first time I actually incorporated a background from the beginning design, first full-color painting, first time I never really got bored at any part of the process, and first time that I've finished a painting (or any art...) in a long, long time... .__.'

This is Fionn, from the Oz series I have whirling in my brain--he's (very loosely, obviously) the Tin Man, which is why his eyes kinda look a little fake (like the whole two color thing), but he's also kind of the Witch, as well...

I meant to draw him with his mechanical wing, but it wasn't working compositionally, so I nixed it. This painting morphed a lot from start to finish (like he was dissolving himself for awhile like the white "belt" is, but even though it looked cool, it wasn't the kind of motion I wanted to imply, so I nixed that, too). ...But I'm still very happy anyways.
