Hellooooo! Back with another tutorial. I finally finished the prop weapon tutorial I started like a year ago! (Even longer, maybe?)Featured builds are the War Machete from Bastion and the Capra Demon's swords from Dark Souls.

I have a question... What if you want to make a weapon significantly larger than this? Both in width and length?
For some time now, I have wanted to make a replica of Soul Edge, but the weapon is huge, and I have no clue how to make such things.
I don't want it for a cosplay (though Cosplaying as Nightmare would be pretty awesome, I don't usually have the time or resources to devote to it, nor have I been to any kind of Con.) I basically just want it for the heck of it, I think it'd make a pretty good decoration. XD

That's a very good question. Soul Edge is probably the sweetest sword that has ever existed. There's only one way I know of so far and if it isn't going to be carried around at a convention all day, you don't have to worry too much about strength.
I forgot to mention in the tutorial but I actually added the handles to Capra's machetes as separate pieces as the foamboard wasn't long enough. I took popsicle sticks and shoved them right into the foam (two in one side, two in the other right ontop of eachother) to make holes. Do the same with the piece you're connecting. Then dip them in your glue of choice and put them back in. Put some glue on the two faces that will join and slide your connecty piece onto the popsicle stick struts. Because this was going to be covered by the grip fabric, I wrapped the seam with masking tape for added stability. For an area that will be visible, you could smooth the seam with caulking and possibly make it totally invisible!
