Beautiful work, but I have to note that sitting on her thin little tail thus as she is it would be apt to break x:

Wouldn't this more or less classify as a sort of sub-dryad? Or at least a fairy?

really beautiful, and I found it funny to find a drawing of Huldra here. After all, being a norwegian, I heave heard a lot of tales and myths about here, and my granduncle said he had actually spotted one sometime, but he never got lured by her. She was like a beautiful woman, except the cow tail. ^_^

Love the whole "it" about the picture, funny, she is a lot more prettier than in Scandinavian stories. In our stories, men were lore out in the woods, by this beautiful song, but became the ugly Huldra`s slave or meal.

Never heard of this kind of fey/fairy/spirit/monster/creature before. Related to a Dryad no doubt... Is it unique to the Anima universe?

A huldra is a beautiful woman whom lure men into the forest. She's got a cow's tail and long, beautiful hair. She's counted as an underearthling. The word Huldra comes from the old Norwegian word Hylja, which means 'to hide'. The underearthlings are also kalled Hulderpeople, and the place they live is called Huldreheimen.
A pairing between a Huldra and a man, could result in children. If a man tossed iron or shot an arrow over a Huldra's head, he had to marry her. That's how a Huldra is rumoured to be the ancestor of well known families. Huldra lost her tail once she was married into the human society. A Huldra Bride brought wealth and treasures with her, if the man treated her well. And on the other side, the Hulderpeople could avenge the Huldra if the man treated her badly.
The most known way for a Huldra to keep her control over her man, was to show off her strength and straighten a horses shoe, saying: "Don't you think I could do this with you if I wanted to?" After those words, she was usually treated well.
The way the myths describe Huldra, vary a great deal. Some myths say she is beautiful as long as the man hold no power over her, but that the beauty falls off her once she's blessed by a Christian Priest, or someone tosses a piece of iron over her. In some fairytales, she keep her beauty as long as she lives. And in some fairytales, the Huldra holds control over her man the rest of their lives, even though it's said that she's both kind and helpful.
^__^
That's a huldra.
Amazing picture though ^^
